Add to the list a Hawken .50 cal muzzleloader, hopefully carried by Jed Smith, Jim Bridger or one of the old trappers.

You just do not see these weapons for sale, ever...

Odd enough, that is how I found myself in a Porsche. I was a hard-core MOPAR muscle car guy in the late '70's and early'80's. Then I got married. And had kids. End of cars. Fast forward 20 years, and I'm looking for another MOPAR. Could not believe what they were going for; boy I wish I had kept some of mine. Anyway, I'm MUCH happier now that I was "forced" to look elswhere. Guns are doing the same thing now.

I'm a bit more into Ford Muscle than Mopar. I did own a 70 Challenger 440/6 Pack....either you were cruising at 35 mph or were launching into hyperspace....not a fun car to drive...

What I wouldn't mind owning is a 70 Challenger 383 Magnum. Even though they are rattle traps that don't stop nor corner.

I will be looking very closely at the NEW MOPAR Challenger that Damiler/Chrysler is thinking about coming out with.

Tabs, Have you dabbled much in the double gun market? I've got a collection of Lefever shotguns and was thinking of buying a double gun.

Ouuu Lefevers very nice!...Undervalued in my opinion.

Don't own a Double Rifle as that is not my flavor...however I do kinda watch them... and have a friend that has a 505 Gibbs double that he hunts dangerous game with in Africa.

There are a coupla ways to go...Antique..Black Powder cartridge they cost a bit less.. Or Modern...but pick a LARGE CALIBER...they are the most sought after and thus cost more. One can drop 15,000 or more fairly easily on a Double rifle made by the best English houses.... My frinds cost 25K...and was custom made for him in Austria.

OK OK OK...Jeff Higgins a Rigby rifle just sold on July 20th in San Francisco in your price range...$6250 out the door with tax. Thats about half of what it was worth.

It was a nice rifle, had a crack in the stock that was repaired. However due to its being out to be repaired there wasn't a picture of the rifle in the catalog nor was one posted in the Online catalog till the Saturday before the sale. Also its place in the sale was at the very tail end of the auction. So it is fair to say it was not advertised correctly. Yet it was a bargain, and this proves things slip through the cracks.

I was to be a phone bidder on this item, however I missed the call when it came.

Oh, one of these days, tabs... And if one of these falls into my clutches, it will enjoy another long career where it belongs, on the firing line. That is definitely getting down into the "shooter" range.

Looked nice and .60 cal is not standard for a Hawken. Oh well, someday may dabble in buying one if I could find it for a good price.

My BCP Custom 1911 is still mint, I guess I should just stick it in the safe for my kids (or Great-Grandkids) to enjoy....NOT!!!

Had a chance a couple of years ago to buy a set of 1911's from a retired vet. Both were close to mint and I was just too busy to worry with it. Ran into him after a bit and he had sold both of them to another guy...

He was getting old and just wanted to get rid of them. Did not know what they were worth and let them go for $500!!!

I havn't really kept up with the latest on the WW2 Military Colt 1911A1s..I would say one in mint condition is worth around $2200.00. I remember as a Kid you could buy a rack of em for $50 ea.

Its Private Ryan, Band of Brothers and the fact that WW2 is now a fading memory with all the vets dying off that has driven the prices on the military stuff. WW2 P-38s used to be $350 to $550 now it looks like a G up.

Prices just continue to escalate on GUNs. The tide is coming in and rising all boats to some degree, but certain things like 1911s, Winchester Lever Actions, Smith Registered Mags seem to have gotten crazy... Anything of any real quality just goes for a premium

I am watching and waiting for the Party to be over, it would probably be a good idea for me to start selling off my collections or at least lightening the load. One problem I have is some of the things I have would be virtually impossible to find again within a reasonable amount of time, if ever.

I recently sold a Sedgley conversion of a Colt New Service revolver into 22 Hornet...some of U might say what the fk is that, I didn't even know they made it let alone see one. I doubt I'll ever see one again. But I had a guy buy a Sedgley Conversion of a Win Low Wall into 22H, where I made a small profit and I felt a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush, so I sold it Made 110% on money on that one, just don't ask how long I owned it. .

Since Winchester stopped making guns the price of all their products, especially the pre-64 models have gone up at least 30% from what I hear. As good as money in the bank... and a lot more fun to play with!

The price of Old Winchester Lever guns has been rising since 98. Henrys are aorund 20K now, Deluxe 66s, 73s,76s, 86s, 92s, 94s and 95s all start around 25K and go up, I've seen some of these guns pull 70K.

A 73 One of One Thousand will cost you at least $200K. So Winchester closing its doors hasn't been the catylst.

The perception of Antique Guns changed with an Article in the Wall Street Journal back in 98, when JC Devines sold a Woodward Double Shotgun for 210K. They basically said Antique Guns were undervalued and were good a good collectable asset to have.

Motion doesn't seem to get it...one can play this game for a few hundred a pop or several hundred thousand to about 1M a pop.
