5-22 lbs. of compacted feces in your intestines?

I was up late watching an informercial for some reason. The product was herbs or something which clean out your intestines.

According to the marketer, the FDA has stated that by the age of 45, you can have from 5-22 lbs of compacted fecal matter lodged along the walls of your intestines.

I don't really believe this. Are there any doctors reading this that can verify?

I think that you CAN/MAY, but that doesn't mean or say what percentage of people do.

If I wasn't terribly regular and I had a huge gut, then I might worry/wonder, but as long as you are going 2-4 times a day and you don't look like you are 14 months pregnant, I wouldn't worry too much.

of course I'm not a doctor, i don't have any medical training, and my opinion in this matter is probably worth about as much as a belly button full of lint.

No way. Its gone within 12 hours. Found that out the hard way a while back while overseas. Friend took me to an Indian place and we piled the red hot sauce on heavy. Jeez was it hot...

Well kids, it was just as hot coming out and you could tell when it started and ended. Body it seems was very happy to get rid of that dinner.

Two years ago did a full body scan and have the images on a DVD. Scanned it way back when and there was no way that there was anything "compacted" and just sitting there. If you are really worried about it, take some metamucil once every few days and that takes care of every worry in this area.

You really believe anything you see on an infomercial? Keep your credit cards in your pocket...

Had two close friends die when each had a blood vessel burst, so for me it was life/health insurance. Better to know about any problems now and fix them than find it out the hard way...

Ridiculous! This is one of the oldest medical BS stories out there. Apparently, people have been convinced that the colon is the source of all their misery since ancient times. Colonic "cleansing", purging, etc.. have been a large part of patent "medicines" and fraud for a long time, almost as long as the "power of magnetic bracelets and foor pads"... Don't get me started!

Joe, couldn't help but smile. That's how all good hot food is... burns coming and going. Indian and Thai the hottest cuisines.

Next time eat some more yogurt or milk (if you can).

Actually, for those interested, you can still poop even if you don't eat. What? Mostly bacteria, sloughed mucosa etc. This doesn't mean that there is 10# of cr@p sitting around, just that you have stuff that is constantly produced and needs to be gotten rid of.

I've heard that there's a difference in, er, 'evacuation efficiency' between cultures who sit vs squat. Apparantly squatting is better for getting rid of the last little bit that could be hanging around. Any truth to this??
