Produced by the President's Budget Office and sent to the Hill, every year, like clockwork.

You are right that Bush does not veto spending bills. He could, but he never has.

Yes, and when was the last time a president's suggested budget was even close to the budget finally passed by Congress? Hasn't happened since I've been following politics.
Never...HASC and SASC marks and gyrations are astounding.

What is it that we are arguing about? I said the president prepares the budget and sends it to the Hill. Congress passes the budget. Of course they don't pass it line for line.

But the responsibility to prepare an annual budget lies with the president. And the moral and political authority to keep spending in line lies as much with the executive as with Congress.

If you are saying Bush gets a pass on the massive budget deficits that have happened every year that he has been in office, we have a disagreement. Otherwise, I think we are on the same page.

+1

We may have differences on how much to spend, or what to spend on, but hey that's America. But passing along OUR SPENDING to our kids is sickening to me. It's a failure of leadership at all levels, and I woud say the same thing no matter which party was in office.

No one should get a pass...don't focus on the Republican bait while Dems pull the switch.

Reverse roles, same warning.

Scott:

Re-read the rest of my post which you quoted in part and look at what is being spent on INTEREST alone for the ever increasing national debt. That will continue to compound year after year and your hard-earned money you pay in taxes could be used for other things more important or even a reduction in the overall budget.

I am not for higher taxes, but I am also not in favor of continual increasing indebtedness to foreign countries from which we are borrowing more and more and more.

Where is the fiscal responsibility promised by Washington?

Our economy is a house of cards...Worse, it is a well manicured, clothed corpse. Externally looking like the picture of health while inside ......ou get the picture.

Seems as so. Can't say I've always been fond of the master, but I won't kick him outta the meeting on his current diatribe.

I wish it were all as simple as when we were kids. When it got all ugly outside, we just went home and then to another day. Some carryovers, but mostly a new day.

Hope I'm not over simplifying again (I always do), but isn't the message there, "went home"?
