Equating Olbermann with O'Reilly is the height of ignorance. O'Reilly is exceptionally ill-informed on history, current affairs, operation of government, etc. He makes up for it with emotional and demagogic speech.
Olbermann is much more factual. His weakness is in conveying authenticity of emotion. I don't doubt he believes what he says, but there's a part of him that holds back from the edge of outrage. So really, it's an issue of style vs. substance. Not surprising that the neo-conned opt for style.

Although I can only stand to watch him in small doses, Olbermann does have that newscaster voice -- speaking in such an authoritative manner that you want to believe it's true. His weakness is that he steals all his material from democraticunderground, and I can't imagine a guy as bright as he probably is believes any of that crap.
I wonder what his next incarnation will be after this show is canceled. Sportscaster => Fringe newscaster => ????

Olbermann has another brilliant essay on the lying thug, Bush II.

I finally caught up with that commentary last night on TiVo. Olberman is almost frighteningly articulate and smart. I can see why the Bushies don't like him, he's the anti-Bush

"As you will be remembered for Iraq, and for the lies you and your government told to get us there and keep us there." The childish mentality required to eat this up awes me. The fact that he must depend on this type of overemotional jibberish to make his points smacks of something..........and it's not intelligence.

All excellent and rational points, did I miss any? You know, if you guys (including Olberman) would lose the drama and exaggeration you might convince the occasional person. But as is all too obvious, it is the personal ego that drives you guys not results. So(being the loyal opposition) I say thank you for rendering yourselves ineffective ![]() And a happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Comments bordering on hate show fear on the part of those making said comments. Plain and simple.

Probably he is afraid of the direction the Country is going in, len...as are more and more domestic and foreign political and military leaders. How many more people do we need telling us that we are in an international world of hurt before the supporters of the current line of action admit it? No one has a solution to the problem and for the administration or the Reps to ask the Dems "What would YOU do?" is disingenuous and misleading. Am I fearful of the current quagmire?
You bet I am. I am tired of all the "Everything is going to be OK" rhetoric of the past few years when anyone with a IQ higher than Alfred E. Newman could see that this was not the case. Considering the state of the world at the present time, one would be well advised to re-examine their perspective and see if it conforms to reality. I recommend the article in the latest copy of "U.S. News and World Report" (November 27 issue) entitled: "Who Lost Iraq". It is a relatively long article with a timetable of events leading up to the present time. Worth your time. You see? No name-calling, no insults. Just a recommendation to read an article and get a slightly different perspective on the situation and how it developed.
