one of my first patients was a K stone passing. friend doc said, "it is the worst pain a pt. ever presents with. this is true over the years.

GUYS!!!!

DRINK

MORE

BEER

When I was in a motorcycle accident they put four pins in my leg, knocked me out with sodium penathol (sp?) and when I woke up the nurse gave me a pain shot and told me to page her when I needed more. Somewhere around the second day I asked her what she was shooting me with and she said "I can't tell you".
Dunno I just remember feeling numb and sleeping allot, not that great of a buzz... but I never like opiates anyway.

Try acupuncture. I was on oxycontin and roxicodone every day for three years after spinal cord injury. Acupuncture has not eliminated the pain completely but it has reduced it to the point where I can function w/out the narcotics.

That was unbelievable. I mean I wasn't asking for something special. Miller Lite or Captain Morgan, they didn't have either one. Oh well, it was lots of fun and we can't wait wait to go back!!

Had them twice....including 9-11.....horrible pain, would rather be dead than deal with it again. Demerol (a truly wonderful drug) is the only answer. Came out of a 4 hour wait in emergency before I got attention (welcome to Canada's medical system), an overnight stay only to find out the pain going on in New York.....truly a horrible day.

Long term solution is to keep drinking water all the time. Apparently if you keep the fluids moving in your body the stones do not form as much and you can get rid of the problem.

I probably drink a few litres a day just to make sure that I never get them rotters again....

I had my first a couple years ago. Called 911 from my office floor at 6:30 am. The only warning was that I had a constant sense to pee for a week or so. I had two shots of D in the emergency room and was vomiting when they took me to radiology. I've had major bone fractures that didn't come close to the pain of my stone. Can't imagine a human going through more pain than that and surviving.
