If you can find evidence of that in his FEC reports, please share it. AFAIK, he's on his third press secretary in one month and the current one used to work for McCain and did some work for Schwarzeneggar and Jeb Bush too. His DC firm is run my Mike Murphy, McCain's 2000 guy. Not a novice by any means, but not Hollywood or Madison Ave. in the least.

Oh, and his last press secretary's previous job was with an association in DC and the one before that was a longtime press sec. for House Rep. Whip Roy Blunt. If you want to go back even further, Thompson's press sec. when he was a senator now works in the press dept. at the Canadian embassy. I know all these folks.

So you're telling us you get free popcorn?
and that he has no one else writing his messaging for him on staff?Hey, since you are so in the know, why 3 secretaries in such a short period of time? What's that about?

I don't know who all he has working for him, but that stuff is all disclosed in FEC reports, so it will eventually come out. And I highly doubt it's anything other than Washington insiders like every other campaign hires. As for the three press secs., his campaign has been a DISASTER. If you want to level some warranted criticism of Thompson, look at how his campaign has gone so far - very lackluster fundraising and chaotic staffing. That does not bode well for someone who wants the top CEO job in the world. I don't know all the dirt, but I know plenty of serious insiders are very worried for Thompson and wouldn't leave their current jobs to work for him.

Thanks. Why would you vote for someone who can't even manage a campaign, a pre-campaign at that where you don't even have to answer to critics?
Are we going to have a new Secretary of State every 2 months? FT is a born non-leader.

Well, Clinton's '92 campaign was probably the best in history and I wouldn't have voted for him if my life depended on it. Bob Dole's '96 campaign, while pretty smooth staffwise, was also a disaster, but I still wouldn't have voted for Clinton. Ross Perot's '92 campaign (before he quit and reentered) was also a pretty smooth and serious operation and no one can claim that guy doesn't know how to get things done. Still, would he have been a great president? I don't think a chaotic campaign really reflects a candidate's leadership ability. Why can't John McCain keep it together? Is it because he's wrong on the issues, doesn't have devoted and competent campaign staff or because he just never had any GOP base support? How is Huckabee making it into the top tier with a shoestring campaign?

He doesn't give me a chubby, since he no longer appears to be the messiah
. However, before Huckabee started taking off, Thompson was the only real conservative who had a shot at winning. I like Tancredo, Hunter and Paul, can't stand Brownback. But let's face it. None of those guys are gonna be president. I'm as right wing as the day is long (I think Byron, Mulhollandose and Sammy are liberals ). So I want a serious conservative to win. Thompson ain't perfect, but he's a lot more conservative than Bush even promised he'd be.

Would you invest in a company with a chaotic management team hiring and firing on a regular basis? that's good leadership?

What's that old saying from TN? "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." --- ol' buddy GW It all makes sense now. Carry on.

No. Wrong. I didn't believe Clinton in '92 either and he said it all better than anyone ever did. And my mistrust was well placed. I think Bush did a good job in his first term and tried to do the right thing at the beginning of his second term and then lost his way. But that's another debate. I guess during the 2000 campaign he was so busy planning the whole 9/11 conspiracy after he got done planning to win FL by 534 votes, that he didn't focus too much on what he was gonna do once he squeaked into office. But I remember him making promises about tax cuts and delivering pretty quickly on that one. Ditto for education reform. And this is out of left field, but I most respect him for being the very first politician to ever even try to fix Social Security. Anyway, I digress. Voting for anyone is a leap of faith. Tell me a Pres. Hillary Clinton would be as centrist as she tries to look in her campaign and Senate job. A tiger don't change his stripes.

Taking into account that Fred Thompson has spent the majority of his life in public service, he still strikes me as a guy who's highest aspirations in life are not revolving around whether or not he becomes the next president. Can't say the same for Hillary... the people that want the job just a wee bit too badly are the ones that scare me.

Likely that you are trying so hard to slam the guy. ...apparently FT is obviously (even to the Lib's) going to be the guy to beat.
So Shawn, Hillary taking huge money from a criminal . .. and just saying "Had I known..." or "I wouldn't be any Tammy Wynet (sp?) . .." and then again post monica, "had I known ..." is okay for CIC .. . but FT's campaign management isn't smooth enough, you say? Obama, can't beat his smoking habit (and looks like he's always Jones'n for a cig.... ). ekes "Strength" ![]() Yep, you Lib's got nothing. So the tear-down begins.
