The other ones that really piss me off drive up in "club foot," big foot's retarded little brother, and have to leap to the ground & get back in via rope ladder. And they have a freakin handicapped tag.

It bugs the hell out of me and I don't know why some of you condone it? I have reported a couple of people to the restaurant/coffee shop for this, and they don't do anything about it. I wouldn't do anything to the car, but if I got a pissy attitude (like the ferrari girl) I would have just parked right behind her so she couldn't get out.

It reminds me of Jim Carrey in Me, Myself, and Irene when he trashes a car in the handicapped spot only to have the driver escort out the owner (in a halo) to his car.

There is a coffee shop I frequent that always has a brand new Corvette parked in the spot, with tag. I saw the owner once and didn't notice anything about him, but he had the tag.....I saw him again a month later in the same spot, this time wearing shorts and he had a fake leg...

I think more than anything it's an indication of our (not mine, but a lot of other peoples') compassion and consideration for others, its' been going downhill for years as everyone is so concerned about themselves and there are those who take this to a new level; taking handicapped spots, budding in line, parking at the entrance to stores, etc. Says a lot about society...

A few mos. ago when my lady had her wisdom teeth removed, the nurse there told me to pull up into the handicapped parking spot. I knew it wouldn't take more than about 2 min., but I hated doing it. We had to bring her out in a wheelchair and load her into my passenger seat. Totally legit. if you were there to see that part of it, but not if you saw my car there while I was inside.

Think it was 8-10 years ago there was a big scandal at UCLA. Seems about 20 players on the Bruin football team were using bogus hdcp placards. I'm pretty sure it was fines, community service, and public humiliation as punishment.

My step-father was issued a HC tag to hang on the mirror. He was blind. He kept it for the rare instance that there wasn't another space available (malls at Christmas time) and even then would be reluctant to use the card/spot. His thinking was that he couldn't see but could walk just fine so why bother. Most of his blind friends used their cards whenever they could. Many of these were sailors and skiers too.

I hope he wasn't driving.

the larger spots allow me to open the door further to make it easier to get in or out.

also It's been a while since I've been able to walk a distance, I was on crutchs for 4 moths.

I'm now able to walk a mile but I still will use one if I can't find a spot that is wide

but the best part is that parking meters are free and not a tickit zone...I'll miss that on Oct 2

LOL! That sounded like a typical Larry David moment.

I go to the same bank branch every week and have been for the last 10 years, I know everyone in there by 1st name

So this one week I pull in with my MINI and park in what used to be a Handicap spot, they moved the handicap spot about 6 months earlier around the bend where was more room. This old space still has the blue paint but the sign and paint are gone.

I am at the counter filling out my paperwork before going to the counter. This lady walks in and says very loudly, "I am sure you think you can get away with things in your really cute car, but you parked in a Handicap spot and that is just wrong."

She was expecting everyone to gang up on me.

I looked at her for a long time, I really did not know what she was talking about. I then asked her where she thought the handicap space I parked in was. She indicated the old Handicap spot.
Then 1/2 the people in the bank chimed in and told her that was not a handicap spot, they were around the corner.

I never said another word to her, nor did I even look at her, I walked up to the teller window and began my transactions never uttering another word.

The woman was down 2 windows from me in the process of her transaction.

She came over to me an apologized after that. I just smiled and agreed.

As far as others using them and appearing to be able bodied. Thats their business, I personally park as far away as possible when at the mall or stores in general. (The bank has limited parking so I was not going for the closest spot there, just the empty one, now that my office is 1/2 mile away from the same bank branch I walk over every Friday from my office. )

The exercise does me good.

I had a friend in college who got a $250 ticket for parking in a handicapped spot. But the paint on the spot was so faded, he had no idea and there was no sign in front. It was at night, so he went back the next morning to get a photo. It had been repainted by the time he got there. That's how the univ. cops roll.

Don't have one and don't need one. Messing with someone's car is just plain wrong. If I caught you keying my car, for any reason, I'd do my very best to fuch you up badly, even if your bigger and badder than me. I'd find a way. On parking in a HC zone, the fine is much cheaper if you park in a red zone, hydrant, crosswalk, even double parked.

dumbass chick cuts me off in the safeway parking lot and parks in the handicapped space. i park and walk in behind her and ask if she's handicapped. she asks why i'm giving her crap. she's kind of having trouble walking because her pumps are so tall, so i apologize to her (tongue in cheek) because i see that she surely is handicapped because she's wobbling all over the place. got another line of crap out of her. too funny.

HC tags are abused by others that are "borrowing" the HC tag.

A PD call should confirm the driver in the HC spot is HC owner. If not the car gets towed, [even in private lots], the HC tag owner loses it, and the fine is usually well over $200.

fwiw.. I know a guy that sometimes uses the HC tag. He looks and walks great. He usually even talks great. What others can't see is that 1/2 his brain is scar tissue and that he can easily be overwhelmed in a parking lot. Throw in cars zipping around and it's not unusual for him to call a cab to get home.

ps: i bet even a call to the PD w/giving them the tag # and a description of the driver. Those tags are issued through the local PD. A score would be entertaining, to say the least, if you can time the shoot with your viewing schedule. PD should take the infraction very seriously.

That is the BS I'm talking about.

And OK, maybe my rant earlier was a bit harsh. This is just one of those subjects.

God, I wish I was at that party.......trust me, she would've heard an earful. How utterly selfish and ungrateful. To be able to walk with ease.......and to take that for granted..... Sickening.... What my mom (and many people and/or family members here) would give for the gift of walking across that parking lot with ease....

I have a HC ticket and I need it. Yet I do no think anyone should have one. All drivers should be treated alike. You can't walk, you shouldn't be able to drive.

Then why don't you throw away your HC ticket?

And my mom doesn't drive anymore. I drive her.
