In Burbank for the next few days...dining options, etc. ?
My wife and I are in Burbank for the next couple of days and was wondering what we should do. We've got VIP passes for the Tonight Show today and Universal Studios tomorrow. Where should we go to eat and what should we see? We leave early Saturday a.m. Thanks for the help.

Wow dude, I apologize that you dropped by on the only two days out of the year we are likely to get rain.
As far as food Burbank is a little out of my league... depends a lot on what you like to eat... maybe run down Sunset to the coast and get some seafood there are a couple of nice places right on the beach... Gladstones comes to mind. There are a lot of guys on the BBS that live up that way that can give you better tips, I presume you know good food in that part of town is not going to be cheap. At universal studio they have the universal city walk, there are a lot of places to eat there but all shiny new places. Ventura Blvd has some nice spots to eat. Santa Monica is near you and is nice too... if you like pub food the Kings Head is nice but not cheap for pub grub. Or you could go over to Venice, have a world famous corn dog and check out the freak shoe (it is safe).

Go to the Bob's Big Boy at 4211 W Riverside Dr, right where Alameda turns into Riverside. It's one of the very first and very last Big Boy Diners. For Breakfast, Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, for Lunch or Dinner, get a Big Boy Combo.
If youre a foodie, ignore my post. It's a classic, though.

Bill,
If you are a foodie there are a lot of great places to eat near Burbank, unfortunately I live 35-40 miles from there so I am not that familiar with the area but there are some folks that post here that have or do live up that way. Like I said you have to let us know if you are looking for a hole in the wall or five star restaurants because we have both.

If your a fan of BBQ you might want to try "Pecos Bill's". They are on Victory Blvd near Griffith Park. World Famous or at least they should be.

Thanks for the info, guys. Wife prefers 5 star dining. (We already had fish tacos at Dukes in San BeunoVentura
) We tried getting reservations for The Cut in Beverly Hills, but they are booked 2 weeks out.

Just an idea, take the 210 (Foothill Fwy) east a couple of miles to Old Town Pasadena.
Any number of fine restaurants there. I don't know if its truly "five star" or not but for a romantic, very nice dinner try Cafe San Torini right in the middle of Old Town. Ask for an outside table. It is a roof top environment, twinkly lights, flowers and great food if you like Italian. Your wife will love it.

Dan, the dinner was great, and we enjoyed walking along Colorado!
Hugh, thanks for your generous offer! Jim, we'll try to work in Portos tonight.
