Driving Gloves

Anybody here wear driving gloves while driving spiritedly on the street? I feel like I have greater control when I wear gloves. If anybody knows where to get some good gloves, please chime in. I like the Porsche gloves on Pelican, but I don't think they are available anymore:

Lots available on Ebay. I don't wear them myself, but if it helps go for it!

Cheers,

Paul.

Porsche Driver = Driving gloves
Vette Driver = Toupee and gold chains
SUV driver = Soccer mom on cell phone, applying makeup
MG driver = Ascot and cigarette holder

Choose your poison!

If I ever saw someone on the street wearing driving gloves, I'd immediately think they were a pillow biter, regardless of the car.

Interesting way of thinking.

I never said that my hands slip all over the wheel when I don't wear gloves. I said I feel like I have greater control. Just like any other sport, people wear gloves to get a better grip. I also mentioned that I wear the gloves when I drive spiritedly, not when I go down to the local Starbucks.

I ask, please try to be polite with your comments, as I will return the favor with mine.

Rest assured, my comments were very polite, in that I'm trying to save you the embarassment of what EVERY single driver who sees you wearing driving gloves on the street will think.

Thank you for your concern Rick. I will keep your advice in mind.

i wear mine in the winter.

Bareback when in the car but have a very nice set for the bike.

Unfortunately the company (Thurlow Leatherworld in San Diego) has gone out of business and they are not made any longer.

Deerskin and feel very nice, they fit perfectly and are a joy to wear.

I just hate the feel of gloves...so much so I only wear my nomex gloves when I fly on take-off and landing:cool:

I wear cycling gloves,
ala no fingers,

Rick Lee 09-25-2007 10:29 AM

It's a little different on a bike (bicycle or motorcycle). Consequences for losing your grip there can be more serious and at hwy. speeds road debris can feel like a bullet hitting your hands.
