When I mention that I may sell the Green Car, my GF gets mad at me and says I need to keep it!

Cheers

The funny thing is that my mouth says that I might have to let it go soon, the car keep receiving parts and care.

I am always going to want a little more than I am ever going to get. No car can fill that itch, but sometimes having something new will make it go away for a while.

My first 911 was a magic car, set up like you read about. It is the only car I wish I still had, the quintessential street/track air cooled 911. For what it was, it will never be surpassed, and I have only begun to equal it.

But I didn't know that at the time...

and my wife hated it. She wishes she kept her mouth shut now, I am sure.

Tell your wife "if you can't handle me at my worst you don't deserve me at my best"

Here's my observation as a single guy that's watched a lot of marriages implode. I've seen friends nagged/talked into giving up various things that supposedly take time away from what's important (to the wife) - softball, basketball and bowling leagues, cars, bikes, whatever. This is typically the first introduction of an ongoing theme - that your happiness is low on her list of priorities.

I sold my '72 427 BB El Camino to pay for my wife's ring. She didn't ask me too, and would never have done so . . . I had just dropped about $5k for a complete GW suspension and SSBC disc brakes, but sold the whole thing for $5500 just to get it moved. I had about $25K in the car and it was still in primer. This was in 2002, and the only thing that happens when I see a similar car and reflect on the sale is to think of how great a deal I got.

She makes me cake all the time AND I have two project cars in the garage.

Garage
Get a used Lexus ES300, but keep the Porsche. This is what we have. My wife knows I love working on the 911, and after seeing me rebuild the motor in our garage, she always reminds me I can do anything and figure things out because I did this. I dunno if that is true, but always nice to hear!
