It was rusty from outdoor storage. I had to grind everything clean, lubricate and paint it, re-assemble and rewire the motor and controls for 575 Volts.

I've spent an hour a day on it since I picked up just after Labour Day.

Just the ramps and the drive belts were missing. I'm going to lag it today and make my first 'hoist' tomorow.

Any thought on expected longevity of the engine? I would have more faith in a Chinese two stroke than a four, but who knows.

And, I think everyone in North America should be concerned about the fact that they can build that bike and ship it here then sell it (with a mark-up) for $1,000.

Yup, but cheaper than what the local dealers want for the Shelby 500, plus it has the watts link suspension and aluminum V8 (better weight distribution and lighter by 400 pounds).

Chinese Dirt Bike

My $1000 bike has a motor built by Lifan, a factory that churns out 10,000 motors per day. I bought direct from the importer and he assembled it for me as well (comes in a crate). The importer will sell me a new motor if and when I need one for a lot less than I paid for the bike.

A couple of buddies and I put together a group and bought 6 for 1K each. Importers website is www.X-rage.com. He sells scooters ATV's and other rigs as well. See http://www.alvatrading.ca/xr_qty3250.htm to check out the bike I bought.

I have a half dozen rides on it now (+-10 hours) and it runs like a champ. On close inspection you can tell the fasteners, pegs, etc are not great quality and its heavy.

RE:Chinese motorcycles... my brother bought one and in Calif. they can't be registered for use on the street and you can't get an off road sticker for it.

You may want to check with your local DMV before buying one unless you plan on only riding on private property.

YMMV

In Canada the importer got all the required MOT (our DOT) approvals for the streetable bikes.

Just bought this...... (Oct)

and this....... (Sept)

and this........ (Aug)

Now my wife is out shopping for furniture, appliances and a new kitchen!!!
She didn't even ask me how much I was paying for the new Pcar, when I told her I was buying it she just said, "oh goody, I get to go shopping".

Oh well, you only live once! Enjoy EVERY day!

(Not an everyday or every year event for us; I'm usually working; but funny how the harder I work the luckier I get; anyway this thread just caught me on a good day, Cheers)
