Dell is Pathetic

I have recently ordered my 5th or 6th Dell computer. Happy with the product and service. However, when you order you get an order confirmation, shipping info and delivery info. Every time I get the shipping info I click "track" and I get the same response :data not available." How can a company of this magnitude have such weak post sale info?

Actually, this is common - I get this from Pelican, Amazon, etc. It's because they (Dell, Pelican, whomever) get a tracking number when they first order a pickup from UPS, fedex, USPS, whomever, but the shipping company hasn't yet picked it up, and thus hasn't entered it in the database. The tracking # is created by computer, but the tracking software hasn't yet been informed of the shipment. Therefore, "data not available".

Recently ordered a Dell laptop for my in-laws, was able to track it every step of the way. Ordered them a new desktop, it showed up before I even tried to track it. Not exactly a bad thing.

I've had tracking issues with many companies, so it's not just a Dell problem.

I have done the same thing, all along the process with no problems.

Lets see, you have bought 5-6 of their computers, like the product and so on but because you cannot get it to track then "Dell sucks?"...

Have you ever thought of buying an HP laptop? Then you will learn what sucks in the laptop world...

Only three rounds? C'mon. You should have at LEAST put a clip into it.

Did you put up a pic of a target or someone you hate, before you shot it?

Freaking sweet man!

I stomped one with a steel toe boot once... It rocked!

I can't take credit, it's from the tool/appliance destroy thread, post is from varmit. However, it did strike a chord with me, as I had the exact same HP laptop.

For my recent order, Dell didn't even send out a shipping notification. The computer showed up in only 3 days, before I even thought to check! Damn you Dell!

Some of you guys are really demanding. These days, you're lucky if your stuff shows up at all.

We have 2 Dells at the office that were leased. The lease ends December 1st, so we just called this morning to see about shipping them back. They said, no, they will not take them unless we give them 90 days written notice first. It's in the fine print.

Why you have to give written notice for a lease that has an end date already is beyond me. We are shipping them back anyway, and not paying anymore. They got very rude and threatened to ruin our credit rating. Nice.

The Dell POSs crashed all the time anyway. We are replacing them with Apples.

Over 4 years we've purchased ~ 150 Dells with 50% laptops. Sure we've had the occasional failed drive here and there, faulty KB, dropped and broken screen but none of this "Dell POSs crashed all the time" business. You're either installing crap 3rd party software/hardware and/or downloading loads of garbage from the net.

I've bought about 50 in the last two years - one had a hard drive issue - 10 laptops - about 400% better than the crap I used to get from HP and Gateway.
