I am always amused by the fact that the folks who are the most vehemently against Rennlist are often the same ones that had previously been escorted from the site for having a history of failing to behave in a respectful and cordial manner. You know who you are, lads.

No site is perfect, but I think John at Rennlist and Wayne here at Pelican both subscribe to the belief that if you can't get along then you will be moved along. Sometimes I've been the facilitator of that process at Rennlist, but never before numerous counselings, warnings and 'time-outs'.

My advice is to spend time at multiple forums and take away the best aspects of each of them.

And be nice.

Randy m' boy I think it's a little different than that. Former "super" moderator adrian, posted a link to legal papers of mine on a county web site. Is that behaving in a respectful and cordial manner? Is that in violation of rennlist rules & regulations? Want to know what happened to him for this offense? Not a damn thing. See, when you're one of john d's blow buddies there are no rules. Adrian eventually resigned as moderator when Abby shamed him into submission by showing over & over & over what a dick he was, and how he abused the position of moderator. Was I escorted out? After a fashion. I knew the post in question was to be my last. John d came in with some big tirade about how he'd sue if I came back under another name. If I had wanted to, he would have never been able to find out, trust me. I was done with his septic tank. As I said in a previous post, my only hope is that the check bounces. Tell john & adrian hi for me.

To compare Wayne to john d is comparing chocolate to crap. Somewhat similar in appearance, very different in substance.

PS how many warnings has adrian gotten?

I can only speak of my own personal interactions there. I've had none with you - as far as I know.

Not that I recall. That said, every speck of my statement is factual. Is off topic still as filled with American haters as it used to be?

Oh yes. But the battle continues with some of us.

I've met and known Jenn and John for many years. Class act, enuff said.

As to site content, it's the posters that give it the flavor. Each particular section has it's morons.....

OK, I have been reading these attacks on Jon, and it is wrong. The man has put forth time money & work to provide a good Porsche site, and now, after he has burned out (I can understand, as I'm starting to get burned out too, why I'm trying to get rid of all my stuff in one fell swoop) and do something good, yet people are attacking him??? I have been a paid member since pretty much day one after my friend Dave Peters told me how great the Porsche List was, after the change, I stayed. Shame on you for what you are saying about Jon. On the consulting gig, true, it can be one day a week or month, but some of us do get paid pretty well for it, so don't think he wasn't making money at his real job, something has to fund a hobby.

Thanks Wayne..!

It's been a long road - you and I (if you wonder what I'm talking about - look at my registration date on this site - or first post on: 03-02-1998..) Yea - I head back to Haiti in a week or two - and it is amazing lifes "twists and turns"... Who would have thought...

Anyway - my thanks right back at you... For your years - and years of support of Rennlist as a Sponsor - but more - for the number of personal phone calls through the years, starting when?? Wow - 1998..! Am I really that old???

So anyway - I just thought I drop in - and say...

Thanks Wayne - you run a first class forum, business and more - you are a first class person...

I value our relationship at both the personal and professional level. The former - to me, probably much more important than the latter.

Thanks again,

John

That's very nice R. But it doesn't address the hatefull way that I was dealt with on the R.

Dude- admit it: You've got a problem with anger-management. Come on: do a check on Pelican: How many people now post only on the "Florida water fowl" because YOU have chased them off of Rennlist with your heavy-handed crap? I can't believe I actually sent you an email asking how to moderate a site [I was a moderator at my pilot union site for a few years. I asked Randy for advice at one point]; 15 minutes after I read your response I was like "Jesus-! Ok...I guess...!

=======

Rennlist just changed. The old is gone, the new is here. The name of Rennlist from now on for me is "Nothing". This name means that everything is new, and this is now a BLANK slate- that is what the name Nothing means.

N!

Sorry I asked. Randy, I hope you have a great life, I hope to meet you some day.

Care to provide some examples of me acting like an A-hole here, or are you just talking out of your (fat) rear end?

Let it be known that "Randy V" is a moderator at Rennlist and has a fancy of altering peoples posts to satisfy his opinions.

I posted a poll and he thought it would be "Good Judgment" to add his opinion to it. He added an option/choice to the poll so to mock it. Even making it look like a few hundred thousand people voted for his "Choice". Look for the EXODUS poll.

Take what he has to say with a very small grain of salt.

I guess john & Randy came over for a little whitewash for the soul. I have no beef with Randy. John however, had a somewhat unusual view of things and I think it showed up in the tone & content and of his operation.

Since you're reading john, be sure & give my regards to adrian. I miss you both like a boil.

Anyone else notice John D's join date? Dec 1969.

Randy, I take issue with your comments that those speaking out against Rennlist were problem members. I spent a good amount of time on RL during my 951 ownership days, both as a registered user and paid member. I never even received as much as a warning until I dared post positive feedback regarding a non-sponsor. The threats and warnings that followed were enough to convince me that I could better spend (waste?) my time elsewhere.

For the sake of comparison, I have often made similar posts on Pelican, to share experiences with good and bad products or vendors. Often times these posts are regarding items that Wayne does not sell, or companies that in some way compete with Pelican. Never have I been threatened in any way by Wayne or his moderators. Probably why I've always tried to give Wayne as much of my business as possible.

I harbor no bad feelings towards Rennlist, or John D and Jen, who seem to be moving on to an admirable pursuit. I simply hope that in the future the moderation on the forum can be done in a fair manner.

I was never reprimanded, scolded, warned, or experienced any other behind the scenes interaction with the moderators at rennlist. I've had many internet conversations with John and never had any problem with him at all.
But ,,, when i posted and asked why Motor meister was a paid sponsor in good standing i got flamed. Not by John, but by his sheep. Seems I had no right to question anything John did and they let me know it.
Adrian was one of the more vocal, which was ironic because the only reason he hangs out at rennlist is to hawk his crap and make a profit from the sheep. He had no room to talk about integrity or honerable business practices IMO.

I wasn't escorted out, I left on my own and I let the door slam.
Rennlist was cool at one time but it really went downhill fast until there werre about 25 people who decided it was their place and they acted like it.
One person would ask a reasonable question and all 25 of them would take turns with their stupid, anecdotal, nonsensical ramblings.

There was one person on the 911 mailing list who was a wealth of knowledge, BTDT and very helpful, I can't remember his name right now but I miss his posts. I believe his screen name was actually his and his wife's name. Good guy but he was outnumbered.

Randy, I don't recall who it was specifically that I was warned by. It's been a few years. As I said, I was not banned.

guys, Randy is an OK guy..., rennlist was his sandbox, remember, they police it as they see fit...not how we see fit. I personally like the OT here, but Rennlist is good to hang on as well.(been there since porschephiles, even though it doesn't show it.) Every board has a diferent flavor...
I for one think it is great that Wayne has these boards, I learn alot about things I would not otherwise know about...including cars.
I trust others feel that way too.
i will say that I do not like the whole Member > non member crap that make you feel embarrassed to be a member. (i think you know what i mean)
