Lamborghini's Bulls-eye, pun intended.
I am, as most of us here are, big car guys. I dont care what make you came from or what side of the pond you call home, if a car is good and good fun...then im sold.
For the past couple years I have had reservations on Lamborghini's ability to build a car that could live up to their name. Generations of these cars have stood for hookers, coke, and the highest degree of expressive design. Recently their cars have found themselves romancing the Audi breed in helping to modernize the companies technologies. This in turn created a wicked good car with relentless speed and greatly improved overall quality and ability; save one aspect. While Audi sells great quality and smooth performance they are, if we can agree, on the conservative end of car design. Though I must admit I am a fan of Audi styling, it really clashes with the old school Lamborghini ideal of creating a car that would turn heads as fast as it turns out "petrol". Dont get me wrong, I still get a little twitchy when I see a top dropping Murciélago rubble by me downtown because they are absolutely beautiful cars. I didnt know when I started looking at the pictures of the car I would actually have the reaction I did, I guess I just wasnt expecting myself to find it so attractive. I see it as the 2008 version of the Countach, a true italian "hoorah!" and a general reclamation of lost identity. In my opinion its what Lamborghini has been missing for years and hopefully beckon a full volume "welcome back" for their styling. What's your take on it? 2008 Lamborghini Reventon (only 20 to be produced) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It needs to be painted flat black....It looks like the F117 and the Murci had a baby.
The car is definitely extroverted. I thinking its gilding the lily though. I love the Murci.

Pretty cool, and much "more" than the other most recent additions. I really like the Murc and Gallardo. I'd actually rather have the Gallardo than the Murc.
It's still not quite lambo-esque enough, but getting there.

Awesome, the F117 on wheels. Lambos are still one of the most extroverted cars on the road, but thanks to the Germans they are actually pleasant to drive. Anyone see the Top Gear where they tried to live with a Countach? Not exactly the case.

I think they went too far. Those wheels are hideous, I'd expect to see them on an SUV with "dubs."

Honestly I have extreme difficulty discerning a Murcielago from a Gallardo. To me this one looks exactly the same except for the sawtooth front end.

I like it. More than the Gallardo, which I like better than the Murcielago (getting too big for my taste).
In my opinion, Gandini's Countach will always stand alone (despite all its faults) as the masterpiece of automotive origami. Not to compare, but for whatever reason the side view brought the il-fated Vector to my mind - I liked its looks also. But I still prefer the forms of the over the top Enzo, especially after seeing one up close at a restaurant near me.

MegaTech moved Vector from the Wiegert-owned building in Wilmington, California, to Jacksonville, Florida, where the company could share office space with fellow MegaTech-owned automaker Automobili Lamborghini. The new Vector Aeromotive Corporation created a car called the Vector M12, which was loosely based on the WX-3 but powered by a version of the Lamborghini Diablo V12 engine. Consequently, some work on the M12 was handled by Lamborghini. This, inevitably, resulted in the American formula being lost.[2] source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_Supercars Best, Kurt |

Interesting - didn't know that. I know a couple of people who knew Wiegert; interesting dude, quite an operator from the tales they told.

Hmmm. 5 times the price of the LP640, but it has the same engine, drivetrain etc. The extra $s buys a body kit, new wheels & a new interior. And all 20 are sold . . .
Even the whackjobs at lampo power hate it. Ian

Whatever happened to beautiful Italian cars? I can't help but compare this chaotic mess with the Muira, a 40 year old design, and be very disappointed.

I think it's a great looking car.
However, I'm sure my fondness for it will be ruined when some shiny-mugged gangsta rapper paints it fuschia or some drunken heiress wraps one around a tree. Yes, I'm jealous.

Maybe a little too over-the-top for me, but that's what a Lambo is all about, isn't it? I have to admit I had never given a Murc a second thought, until I spent the summer in Bangkok. Right around the corner from me was a bright yellow one that got me looking at the details with great interest (it was parked next to the owners Carrera GT which to me, even as a Porsche guy, looked bland in comparison), and then Siam Paragon had a Black one with red interior that really did it for me. Gorgeous car with great proportions and a real sense of...hmmm, something sinister and very extroverted, I guess. I liked it.
I hope that if I see one of these Reventon's in the metal (errr, carbon fibre) it will have the same impact. I sure won't be ponying up the US $1.4M though. I remember reading about a classic and sportscar "club" in Britain that maintained a fleet of approximately 50 supercars, Ferrari's, Porsche's, 50's 300SL's, that sort of thing, and they claimed that 50% of their maintenance expenses were eaten up by just two Lamborghini's. VW sure knows how to make big $$$ from their premium brands (Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi)

I can see why you'd say it has hints of the Countach, but it's just nowhere near as striking as the Countach, a car which today still turns heads fast, despite the fact that the body was designed almost 30 years ago! I do think it's more striking than the Murcielago or Gallardo (I too can't really tell them apart), and definitely moreso than the diablo (a rather boring design, by Lamborghini standards). But like DARISC said, the Countach, despite all its flaws, will always be the benchmark of wild aesthetic design.
