I'm a veteran and my father was also. I like to thank those that I see in military uniform today and when I bump into them in airports. Really nice gesture.
While I think thanking a vet is really great, if you don't agree with our political/military strategy or the Iraq offensive, don't take it out on them. Take your gripe to your political leaders, their the ones you should find fault with. Thanks to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Last edited by widgeon13; 11-12-2007 at 11:11 AM.. |

Thanks guys, I am a desert storm vet... My dad and grandfather and wife's dad (all deceased) are the true hero's. My grandfather served in WW1, my father served three combat tours onboard submarine in south pacific and my wife's father passed away about 9 years ago from complications from Agent Orange. I salute them....... And I would like to salute all you guys out there on active duty right now..... Thank you for your sacrifice.....come home soon....and if given the oppurtunity GET SOME!!!

We had finished our dinner before they had and paid our bill and started to leave. As we were walking out they grabbed one of our party as the waiter had told them that there was no charge for their dinner and they wondered what had happened. I had paid for them and finally had to fess up that my Brother flew off of the carriers USS Oriskany and USS Phil Sea and Father was on the USS Alabama so they were kinda family to me. Unfortunately I was an US Army puke but they laughed at that. They were going into harms way over the holidays while I was flying back to CONUS and a warm and safe home. Least I could do for them... they deserve so much more.

A bump and thank you to our veterans and the current troops. While I never served, my Dad was in Korea and I have great respect for those that do serve.
wcc---Thanks for your service, Bill.

Been a long time since I wore the uniform (Nam 69-71). Thanks to all those that served (are serving). Semper Fi.
All gave some but some gave ALL ...so we can sit here in comfort. Sad that a simple thread to thank vets almost gets hijacked on some political rant. STFU ...(and start another thread for that ongoing crap.)
