The Stockyards are cool (although a bit touristy)...You've go all sorts of stuff to do in the metroplex. You're close to TX. Motor Speedway, there's a great Cabela's outfitters store close as well, plus countless stuff in the Metroplex. Maybe some of the :locals" will chime in.

Try and stay at the Worthington Hotel...I spent a lot of time in Fort Worth with Bell working of the Cobra/Huey upgrade program. Nice, central location.

There is also a great Brazilian restaraunt just 1 block north of "the square"

Fogo de Chao (or something like that)? Man, they should pass out vouchers for free cardiac catheterizations at that place. Of course, the meat is incredible.

Yeah, we stumbled upon it while staying at the Worthington for PCA Parade back in '04.

Pick a nice day to go there so you can walk through the gardens outside. I've only been there once and was amazed at its' size and beauty (for a restaurant, it's not Versailles) . Bring cash as I don't think they accept credit cards.

i would have to argue against this, their food is only average, but they will continue to bring it until you say "no mas" ,if you are looking to drink in the garden , yes this is the place.
however if you are looking for a great meal i would suggest a place called trujillos. terrific food, very nice people. try the pralines after dinner, don't try to buy them all.

Excellent place to eat!

Also go to the "Bass Pro Shop" in Grapevine. Have to get some good Tejas BBQ while you are there...

Although not "trendy" as far as Tex-Mex, the fajitas and bacon-wrapped shrimp at the Blue Goose are 2 dishes that can't be beat!....Hey, there's you a full day of fun: Eat lunch at the Blue Goose (North of the LBJ on Midway), then drive just a bit further north on Midway until you're running next to the runway of the Addison airport. Turn left on Commander, go down about a block, and you'll be at the RUF autocentre. When you finish there, drive over to the airport and go through the Cavanaugh Flight Museum (one of the best aviation museums anywhere) www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com Maybe book a ride in a Stearman or one of their T-6's for the afternoon! Hey, how's that for a fun-filled day?

You going there for an initial or recurrent and for what model? The academy is now at the Alliance Airport, Ross Perot's creation north of Ft. Worth. Talk to one of your instructors when you get there and have them arrange a factory tour over at the Hurst facility. Seeing how the blades are constructed and the ongoing operations at the destruction/testing facility are really interesting. When I was there they had a V-22 empennage and tail section rigged for testing.

PM me if you want more insight, I am there every year.
