Max, eagle nest lake sits at 8k ft and is fed with snow melt. That area sees winter temps in the -30s and -40s for weeks at a time. That lake never gets warm enough to see any use other than fishing. And it's deep around the dam.

My 8yo son caught this. It was the biggest redear sunfish I've ever seen. We threw it back before weighing it. Might have been the new state record. He at least got a master angler award for it.

I have always heard Great Lakes salmon and steelhead fishing is pretty impressive. I took my three year old out trolling for coho yesterday. It's incredible that she will get up at 4am and drive an hour each way, plus troll for seven hours and still behave and follow directions! It's pretty special for both of us, this is the first season I have taken her.

Where was this, Sidney?

The Sandbass were from Lake Lawtonka near Lawton, OK, right on the edge of the wildlife refuge. Really pretty background of Mt Scott.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1360637470.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1360637530.jpg We pulled the stripers out of Lake Texoma, while not a ton of great scenery, it's known. For big stripers and lots of 'em. As the name suggests, it's right on the OK TX border. |

A few from prior years. The rockfish (striped bass) was caught on the last day of Jan a couple years back while quite a few boats fished amongst whales just a mile off the beach. Was 40" iirc. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398431262.jpg
