Last September, sturgeon fishing in the Fraser River near Mission, BC (about an hour from home in Vancouver)

Sunrise over the local mountains

Does this count as "landed"? Too big to get in the boat. 6ft long and about 180 lbs.

Got this one in. (and then back out) :-)

I caught 12 brown trouts and rainbows today in the Rio Guadalupe, Jemez mountains, New mexico. It is a beautiful stream, acessible only by unpaved road. Some pictures:

Montana Brown

Tom '74 911 09-14-2011 11:34 AM

Good lord; now that's a brown trout!

Rusty Heap 09-14-2011 12:45 PM

While yes I salute it and guess that Montana Brown is a nice nice ~20-24" by the size of hand/finger width, he's holding in the classic embelishing "make it bigger than it looks" pose of holding the fish at full arm length away from his face.

So while not technically cheating, by scale of the baseball hat the fish looks to be 4 foot long!

jeffgrant 09-14-2011 03:42 PM

Took my parents Sturgeon fishing when they came visiting a couple months ago.

No "cheating" with this pic.

Bill Douglas 05-20-2012 12:36 PM

A young catch and released salmon. And yes, that is a fish farm in the background and he is an escapee :)

Bad day fishing beats a good day at work... we've got a retention pond about 1 acre at work, I go fishing during lunch for 30-45 minutes. Record sizes for bass are pushing 4lbs, most around 3/4lb to 1 lb... caught a catfish once, about 2lbs, and the bluegills are big enough that my hand has a hard time wrapping around 'em to get the spikes down for unhooking... all lots of fun on ultra light gear

I used to love catching sharks from shore at honeymoon island near Clearwater, Tourists would be amazed and go" Wow there are sharks out there?" I would just be "duhhhh Gulf of Mexico hello". We would wade out sometimes and I have been bumped by big sharks while doing so. Very un-nerving. After that you don't go out as far for while. Glad you had fun...I miss catching big fish like that.

I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you. Let's just say a small freestone stream in NE PA.

A Northern Pike in New Mexico? I would not think they would have a climate to keep stocked pike alive since the sun would warm the shallow water. Deep lakes out in CA can be cold but the northerns like shallow water, right? Is it at high altitude?
