Very nice looking 996 thats local to me.
Not that I'm looking, but wow! If I were, I'd be looking in this direction.

Nice ride. However, I'm not much of a "chromed/polished" wheel fan.

Normally I'm not either. But it seems to work on this car and still not scream BLING.

wowee that's a lot of coin for a car.
Sometimes my concepts of car prices are completely askew. Maybe ~70k is a good deal on that car, I have no concept. Maybe it's great comparing it to similar cars, but when I look at what 70k could buy, I struggle with the value. If I had 70k of "fun money" to spend on cars, it'd be tied up in a longhood 911 for the summer, a Carrera 4 for the winter and a solid but tatty landcruiser diesel for year-round step n' fetchit duty. I get into the same thing with daily drivers. I'm on the hunt for a car now, and I'm blown away by what my peers are spending on cars. A coworker has a 40k SUV, another is leasing a corrola for ~$400/mth. A friend of mine just signed a 5 YEAR LEASE on a Yaris, $280/mth = $16800 to basically maintain a rental car. I have no problem with the dollar figure, but where's the value when you compare it to a 2-3 year old Camry or Accord? I honestly had a hard time talking with him about it, I'd get so frustrated.

He's $10K too high. 996 TT prices have dropped along with the 996 NA. Bout $60 - $62 is market.

There aren't many Porsches in Minnesota and the asking prices are astronomical. I follow what's in the Minneapolis paper quite a bit and see asking prices that are way higher than on Autotrader or Cars.com on either coast or Chicago. I saw one 2002 C4 Cab asking $59,000. The ad ran from the end of 06 through most of the summer of 2007. He would switch the ad to $55,000 every once in a while and then back to $59,000. There are a couple of 2002 coupes that look nice that have been advertised for about $39,000 that have been in the paper almost all year. I can't tell whether sellers are just willing to sit on their cars or if their asking prices are just negotiating points. My sense is that people here think their cars are worth way more than they are.

That price is absolutely crazy, he thinks we are still in 2005 or something.
These things are going through the auctions now in the low to mid 40s for nice ones. Here is one more in line pricewise, and they even offer to deliver it to your door: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=383337 |
