I read the answer on Wiki, and am skeptical of their data - so I am asking you guys.

"The new model had all of the newest technologies of the time, including fully electronic fuel injection (the first car in the U.S. to be so equipped) and all-digital dashboard."

FWIW, I landed there after looking up some info about margarine.
Best I could find with a quick search,

Back in 1910, Adams Farwell of Dubuque, Iowa, pioneered a non-carbureted fuel system called fuel injection, refined and adopted for diesel engines. But it wasn't until after World War II that thought was given to putting it on spark-ignited gasoline engines.

In 1949, Automotive Digest said, "Some automotive men feel that fuel injection for passenger automobiles is nearing the climax in experimentation and may soon make its bow to the driving public." What happened? Nothing -- the carburetor remained king for another 35 years.

Automobile Fuel System History

Edit to add: I always thought it was the 1957 Vette, there is mention of Dusenberg having it but I can't confirm that anywhere on the net.

You missed a keyword in my post: electronic

I also always thought that the Vette was the first production car with mechanical fuel injection, in the US anyway.

But the claim that EFI didn't make the scene until 1981 surprised me. I would have thought Bosh or some other European company would have done it in the 70s.
