Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....

The interior was done up like an old comfortable leather chair with some hi tech stuff added in, and I understood it was an awesome plane. I heard the next week that on his return home he ran it out of fuel near his home. He apparently had trouble connecting with the refueling guy before he left. Story was he was a commercial pilot. Don't know about all the rest, but that plane was a beauty.

Yup, a Beach Staggerwing. Couldn't tell you the last time I've seen an actual flying specimen. Probably 10+ years. This was designed and built when aircraft were works of art and craftsmanship meant something. When this arrived, I think everyone stopped and watched it land.............no pressure on the pilot or anything.

This site gives many ideas eventually.
Seeing the construction of a lamp from parts of a Porsche 911 I decided to build myself a piston lamp from old parts I found. So an old dynamo, a distributor, a useless piston, 2 spark plugs and one fork from gearbox with a 220 to 12 volt transformer synthesis mine lamp for my small office. Hope you like it.
This is the first step. When you find some other parts like a tachometer that will turn it into a clock or an instrument reading of volts will include it.

Height 40 cm
Width 25 cm

P.S. Sorry for the poor photo quality.

Sweet!! I'll have to make it down on a Saturday I'm not working. My good friend who has one of our 912 motors at his house/shop sent me a text last night saying that they had to evacuate due to the sand fire up here. He said he took pictures of our engine along with his classic VW's for insurance reasons. I'm afraid everything might have been lost. The flames were on their lower hill as they were pulling out with all the animals.

He has many classic VWs in various states of restoration. The Placerville Airport is being used as a major Heli Base to battle this fire.

They brought out the big boy(DC-10) for this fire
