Northrop Grumman Ad Teases 6th-Generation Fighter | Popular Science

If this Northrop Grumman ad is any indication, we haven’t seen the last of the piloted fighter jet. The defense giant is best known for its long line of flying wings, including the iconic B-2 Spirit stealth bomber and the yet-to-be-unveiled Long Range Strike Bomber. Their new 30-second clip doesn’t show us any new details about that bomber, which remains under wraps in ads even after winning a major Air Force contract. Instead, it gives us a trio of arrow-head-shaped grey wedges, all stealthy jet fighters with room for human pilots on board.

The F-35 provides me as a pilot greater authority to point the nose of the airplane where I desire. (The F-35 is capable of significantly higher Angle of Attack (AOA) than the F-16. Angle of Attack describes the angle between the longitudinal axis of the plane – where nose is pointing – and where the aircraft is actually heading – the vector). This improved ability to point at my opponent enables me to deliver weapons earlier than I am used to with the F-16, it forces my opponent to react even more defensively, and it gives me the ability to reduce the airspeed quicker than in the F-16........................

Another aspect is the kind of reaction I get when I push the stick forward; the F-35 reacts immediately, and not delayed like the F-16.

The buffeting does not sound like fun to me.

Military surplus firm says "huge amount of interest" as MoD sells off old Sea King helicopters.

Retired Sea King helicopters being sold off by the Ministry of Defence are being snapped up to make unique outbuildings, garden sheds or “man caves” it is claimed.
A military surplus firm selling the aircraft says it has had “massive amounts of interest” from people wanting to buy up the helicopters.
Witham Special Vehicles, based on a 600-acre disused airfield at Grantham, Lincs, is selling off around 30 Sea King helicopters for the MOD this year as it replaces the ageing aircraft.
More than 20 are airworthy and expected to continue flying with commercial firms, private pilots or foreign nations, but six or seven are empty hulks that were stripped of parts.
While working helicopters could fetch £150,000 each, the hulks can be bought for between £10,000 and £20,000 said Paul Southerington, the managing director. All the money goes to the MoD.
He said: “They are being sold for upmarket gardens sheds or ‘man caves’. One guy was going to put a bedroom in and siting room in it.
