Lotus Takeover Nearly Complete – Electric Model On The Cards?
https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/other/lotus-takeover-nearly-complete-e2-80-93-electric-model-on-the-cards/ar-AArfENs

Quote:
Back in May 2017, Chinese manufacturer and Volvo parent company*Geely and announced that it was in the process of takeover talks*with Malaysian company DRB-Hicom over a 49 percent stake in beleaguered car maker Proton and a 51 percent controlling share of iconic British sports car manufacturer Lotus...............

A logical next step in the development of the sports brand will be the introduction of an electric car – Lotus is no stranger to electric vehicle technology, as the company's engineers helped Tesla to build its very first car, the Roadster, back in 2008.*'In two or three years, battery cars will be much higher performing than they are currently because technology moves on,' said Lotus CEO Jean Marc*Gales recently. 'It could be a really good thing to be the first one to do an electric car that doesn’t weigh two tons.'*

Inside Chinese Automaker Geely's Plan To Save Lotus

Quote:
Lotus could also re-issue classic models, or get into the business of restorations or certified old car sales, a lucrative sideline already plumbed by Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, and other luxury carmakers.
I read something else recently where they discussed Lotus going the Porsche route with a SUV model, hybrid electric from scratch with an all electric version.

Zap, Lotus Team Up on Electric Crossover SUV
deadspin-quote-carrot-aligned-w-bgr-2<\/title><\/svg>')}.f_branding_on.blog-group-deadspin .editor-inner.post-content .pu

Quote:
Crossover (APX) concept car at the Geneva show last year, most assumed it was a showcase for the company's new, lightweight architecture, and nothing more. But news hit the wire this morning that Lotus will use that crossover SUV as the basis for a joint venture with ZAP, the company that came to prominence last year for federalizing Smart cars and selling them in the US, despite being disavowed by DaimlerChrysler. The companies say the all-electric model will challenge the Tesla all-electric sportster in performance, with the equivalent of 644 hp and a top speed of 155 mph — and a range of 350 miles on a charge. No word on price, but the prototype will show up at the North American Dealers Association (NADA) annual meeting and leisure-suit exhibition.

It is - pretty sure a Huffy. They used a straight top tube back from the neck to look racey........... and note the 'extra' shifter with the red knob is an 'emergency' brake - if I remember correctly.

Good stuff

That's the brand my brother and I had.

Could not tighten up the large handlebar nut without stiffing the steering.
