^^^^Reminds me as a kid - going to Budd's Creek Maryland drag races late 60's - that on some of the top pro cars they would throw down gas just out of the water box, the car would spin the tires, roll into the gas then a crew member would light it.

The crowd would go nuts! As you can imagine, the practice didn't last too long.

The nighttime match races used to do this a lot to get the crowd worked up. Those crappy drag strips barley had enough lights to see the cars so this would really light the place up.
