The VS-5 Versuchs Schnellboot Experimental Semi Submersible Torpedo Boat.

The VS-5 was one of many experimental fast torpedo boats. Many of them were hydrofoils and others were designed as semi-submersibles. It was called the Versuchs Schnellboot. It was supposed to have a 20mm cannon and two 21 inch torpedo tubes. There is little information beyond this prototype.

"The IRGC also displayed a semi-submersible torpedo boat called the Zolfaqar. Such vessels are not considered to be true submarines because they need to keep a snorkel above the water to feed oxygen to their engines . . .

Me too, loved to watch the series.

In my early years in the Navy (circa late 70's) the Calypso came for a port visit in Halifax.

Just like anybody that visit the Alamo, I could not believe how small the ship was...
