In 1970, Skoda unveiled the 110 R Coupé, a sports car that gained a strong reputation in the rally world and earned the nickname "the Porsche of the East" due to its coupé design, rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration, and impressive performance.
Just a year later, the Czech company sought to capitalize on the success of its coupé by creating a much more radical and extreme version. Thus, it created the prototype of the Skoda 110 Super Sport Type 724.
The more radical and extreme character that the brand wanted to convey was reflected in the design, with sharper, more aerodynamic lines, and a rear end that subtly evoked the Lancia Stratos.

One of the things that made the 3rd Gen RX-7 so well received is that it was beautiful yet understated at the same time. The rendering of the new RX-7 is generally nice but a bit over the top, sort of like the latest Supra. Almost like they're appealing to teenagers, who would not be able to purchase them anyway.

Tone it down just a bit...

A year earlier, in 1981, the studio producing the film became interested in the Skoda 110 Super Sport Tipo 724 because of its flamboyant design. Given the distinctive capsule-like interior access, a series of design modifications were made to suit the glamour of cinema.

New bumpers and headlights were installed, along with a massive rear wing and a black paint job with red accents. In some nighttime scenes, additional lights were also added to the grille.

In the film, the Skoda plays one of the vampires. The plot tells the story of a nurse recruited as a rally driver by a manufacturer (Ferat) to participate in races, though the car hides a secret: it doesn't need gasoline to run, it runs on human blood.

The car acquires the necessary blood to function through the accelerator pedal, every time the driver presses it. Another detail that adds intrigue and a touch of gore to the film's plot is its mysterious pulsating hood, a sign that something alive lurks beneath the bodywork.

Currently, the Skoda 110 Super Sport Type 724 (or 110 Super Sport ‘Ferat’ in honor of the film) is part of the company's museum.

I have doubts that Mazda and make good with producing the Iconic SP (RX-9?), and participate in these collaborations with others. Miata MX5, Iconic SP (RX-9?), and some Subra sister?
