Not just for weld marks, but look for bolt holes.

Sorry but its no myth. I know of two occasions where it happened. Saw it with my own eyes at MAR, mid-American Raceway in Wentzville Missouri, at an SCCA race.

I know of several cases where rental cars were grabbed to replace ones that had been in an accident or were rented before the race to "graze on for parts" if or when needed.

I wonder why the hood has been louvered so extensively. It's rear-engined, and air-cooled.

Then I stand corrected on the Rent-A-Racer story. I have read that a Hertz rental would not make it past a safety inspection.
