On the way home from Atlanta, I saw this BMW on a car carrier and smoke was coming out the exhaust. Why would the transporter leave the engine running, while driving?

Do you think that smoke is coolant or oil? It was whitish in color, so that leaves me to think coolant. If that’s the case, somebody’s going to potentially a new engine when the car gets there.

only one side of the exhaust that emits smoke?
Seems odd, would think hat both sides will smoke equally
and left side is always the primary location so a fake set of pipes, if anything would be on the right.. so right side smoking would mean left would not be fake and would also have to smoke

Smudge on a dirty windshield? Seems to be more below the bumper and off in the bushes on the right?

+1
It’s on the windshield.

I would think his mk1 eyeball would tell the difference between a smudge and actual smoke, and he wouldn't have made a picture of a smudge..

If that’s the case there is smoke coming out from under the rear bumper and the shrubs to the right appear to be smoking.

well sure, but why make a picture of smoking shrubs and post it as "there was smoke coming out of tailpipe"

I don't get why it got taken at all?

Maybe he just took the picture of the car and later saw what looked like smoke when the image was examined?

It seems possible to be normal condensate burning off. The car may have had a dead battery and left running for a short(ish) trip avoiding another jump start.

It’s definitely not a smudge on the windshield or the bushes on fire, because I followed this guy for 5 miles, taking pictures and video.

If I could post the video, I would.

I took the picture, because I thought it was unusual to be transporting a car on the back of a trailer, with the engine running. This was not a one car trailer, but a multi car trailer.

My guess is they drove it onto the hauler and forgot to turn the ignition off. Maybe he was making use of the AC and got distracted?

Finding employable truck drivers is a major problem now. My cabinet supplier has a 6 month backlog at this point, can't move product.

Likely only 1 tire tied down also?
