Find it odd that they put 3 motors on, surely they can get same torque to equavalent prop efficiency with 2 motors for less weight?

Only thing I can think off, is that they never burn off any weight as the energy runs out, so if engine craps out, it becomes a brick, glideg ratio of naffall. And because of that need a 2 out of 3 approach for safety where a 1 out of 2 would simply not work well enough (differential thrust).

alternative solution?
battery jettison for glide to safety.. I guess it could be done, but it would suck over inhabited terrain to dump a ton of batteries in somebodies backyard (best case) or on their house or on a city bus full of people (worst case)

Wiki has changed design, apparantly the V tail prototype battery pack caught fire and it burnt to a crisp..

"On 22 January 2020, a fire broke out and the prototype was destroyed.[13][14] No one was injured.[15] The fire broke out in an under-floor battery compartment located in the “operator/passenger area”.[16] On 18 May 2020, GKN Aerospace announced their partnership with Eviation on the design and manufacture of the wing, empennage and electrical wiring interconnection system of subsequent Alice airframes.[17] By December 2020, Eviation expected to fly a modified Alice design in 2021, with the wing-tip motors relocated, before certification in the second half of 2023.[1]

In July 2021, Eviation unveiled the updated configuration with a T-tail and two 850 hp (634 kW) Magni650 electric powerplants on each side of the aft fuselage, aiming for a first flight the same year.[18] It should cruise at 220 kn (407 km/h, down from 240 kn), have 440 nmi range, 100 nmi (185 km) less than previously, be powered by an 820 kWh lithium-ion battery weighing 3,720kg (8,200lb), down from a 920 kWh battery weighing 3,600 kg, would have a 6,350 kg maximum take-off weight, down from 6,668 kg, an altitude ceiling of 32,000 ft and a maximum payload of 1,134 kg.[18]"

New config seems to be computer image only, I guess they aren't flying much with it yet...

Well it's just a design copy of the 904 with some minor changes and frills,
a significantly lower power to weight ratio
no racing pedigree.. and a tendency to catch fire..

Post #51050 of this thread perked my curiosity, so I did a reverse image search and found Alice. The new craft is currently preparing for high speed taxi test. Wikipedia may not have updated their entry yet, more of a historic record and not news site in my opinion.

Alice was spotted this week at Arlington Municipal Airport (KAWO), north of Seattle, Washington, where it performed engine testing in preparation for upcoming high-speed taxi tests. Aviation photographer Jeremy Dwyer-Lindgren of JDL Multimedia snapped some great images of Alice as it went about its ground-testing preparations, which The War Zone subsequently obtained.
The landing gear looks shorter than the old tri-motor configuration - just looks safer and I bet easier to tie down at the airport. In addition, might not need a ladder or can used shorter steps, and the big reason...................level entry/egress is much safer and barrier free friendly (perhaps).

That shot is through the open engine cover, hence the strange angle.

So if I stand over that car and look down into the engine compartment i see the engine, transmission and cockpit aligned perpendicular to the road surface...

My eyes must be playing tricks

No, the whole rear deck opens by hinging rearwards so when open it is vertical. That shot is from behind the car looking forward.

It's nice, but it's english and will break down on ya.
I stand by my case. I've heard em driven in anger at Le Mans Classic and they sound ed meaner then the 917. Porsche 904 is the mack daddy.

They started the racing name for Porsche, in the Track, at the Rallies, and in public.

None did it all.

That Lola GT, yes it looks nice

but it did not win rallies, races, it's a pretty much a high end kit car powered by a transplanted Ford V8.

The 904 however started the racing name for Porsche, at Le Mans and other tracks, at Monte Carlo and other rallies, and in public.
No other street car has that same pedigree, some did the track (917.906908910911), some did the rallies ( 911/935/962/959), some did the public(CGT/911/Miura) But No other car has that same broad pedigree.

very few did it all like the 904 did. And I'm being generous , since quite frankly i can't find another car that was equally succesful on track/street/rally with full inhouse tech (chassis/body/engine)

i've seen em up close, at the Museum at Spa, at Le Mans
And I've heard em in anger, raced at Le Mans.. I was there to heard the mighty 917, but the 904 sounded way more angry on the same track.. Seriously those little cars sounded meaner then a junkyard dog.
