Those uniforms are a trademark of the 'Barum Rally' .... Google Images is your friend on this.

From Mexico this afternoon. Some people really need to get a clue

Shoulda followed the directions. I'm not done with the bodywork, though, and with Bondo, anything is possible.

That 23 window is looking good. Are you going to keep this one or sell it?

That's super cool. And validating. That car came out 25 years before I was born, and I've never been that into American cars, but something about the car really appeals to me. Nice to know that someone in the know finds the car compelling too.

Mustn't forget, transportation pic:

My Dad has built some cool 427 engines. there's a 63 1/2 up in the Sacramento area that has one of his engines in it.

He built one that the first cylinder on each side was sleaved down to measure out to a 400 cubic inch engine but the rest of the engine had the 427 size pistons plus .060 over.

I have a hankering to build up a '66 Fairlane, you could get them with a 427 if you had $$$$. My second car was a 390 that had some good work to it.

I want to build it up with a 351 based stroker in the 420ci ish range

Jim - very cool cars. A former neighbor owned a '66 Mercury (Comet) Capri 427. His dad ordered it new to drag race on the weekends. It was ordered with only 1 option - a remote trunk release. This was in case his wife ever took it to the grocery store. It is a real survivor with original paint, but not a show car. The rear fenders were carefully widened with a ball-peen hammer to fit the drag slicks! The car ran 9 second 1/4 mile times with very few mods. Unfortunately, I never took any pics of it

These pics coming out of the Rally Mexico yesterday remind me of the old Targa Florio, Carrera Panamericana and Mille Miglia road races of days gone by.

A Ford 390 ci and 427 big block ( FE ) engine would share the same stroke.

390ci 4.052 x 3.784
427ci 4.234 x 3.784

Now if you drop in the 428 crank into the 427 you're sitting at 450 ish ci
Mine was a '66 I like the '66's better The interior is simpler and the taillights suit my taste better.

I think this is a good price on this car. I wish that I had the cash sitting around the house like I had back 4-5 years ago!
