Given the mindsets that are prevalent these days, give them a tablet sized screen with Candy Crush and Netflix. They will be fine. And if they *****, remind them that oceanliners are mostly extinct. Then threaten to put them on a no-fly list. They will shut right up and go back to their Candy Crush and their complimentary bag with 3 peanuts.

People don't like to sit too far out from the aircraft's roll center. They get kinda squeamish when the ship banks very much. So, they have to sit towards the center - no windows. Cargo goes outboard, but doesn't need windows... hmm...

I wonder how a virtual window would feel. Real scenery but shown on window shaped monitor...

For some reason the virtual window concept reminded me of the DC-10 flight in May 0f '79 which purportedly had a video screen for the passengers to watch themselves take-off. Needless to say, that idea was scrapped immediately following the tragedy. Obviously this is a quite different scenario. Me, I need a window seat as this helps as I am squeamishly claustrophobic.

A salute to one of aviation's greats

Cheers

Cheranovskij originally started work on a tailless jet fighter project in 1944 which lead to the BICh-24, extensive wind tunnel testing was done on several models however development never progressed any further. Research continued & lead to a variable-sweep wing design with an outboard wing pivot in 1948 called the BICh-25, very little other information is know about this aircraft tho. Around the same time Cheranovskij designed the BICh-26 which externally looked very similar to the BICh-24, a tailless delta wing design with a single fin & engine. Several more years where spent refining the design & demonstration models where built, but by then less complex & more readably available design from Mikoyan & Sukhoi where being built & then with the death of Cheranovskij the whole project was cancelled.
