I love how people post on a car website asking for serious advice from a pharmacist. Go talk to the state pharmacy board or do a little real research, there's plenty of pharmacy websites and journals that argue about customer wait times vs medication mistakes and verification issues all day long...
I'm not a pharmacist but do work in the pharmaceutical industry and liability is the number one concern with pharmacy both retail and in hospital/residential center. Find another site to get your health information

My g/f started writing a reply, and then was distracted with other work. I read the draft - it was good! I'll bug her to finish it this AM...

I give up... I clearly request the help of a pharmacist (amazingly, Porsche owners could actually be employed in this profession) - please read the title of the thread - yet I am still get crap replies. What is wrong with those people who have nothing better to do than to point the finger at others... Thanks to those that actually provided some intelligence here.

Thanks widebody911. I can easily imagine that some of the brain-trust here will find your girlfiend's answers to be nonsense (as they clearly know all matters) but I am all ears. Thanks for taking the time to investigate this matter further.

Here is her reply:

You really don't want my insight into this one !!! Feel free to send this to Porsche boy. The statement below is one of my biggest peeves with the lay people out there. He must be the only person on earth who has the flu and needs medication !!!! Does he take priority over the hospice patient who is dying and needs their pain medication or the 2 year old with a systemic infection that needed antibiotics yesterday and has a fever of 104 or the patient with an active blood clot in their lungs that needs their warfarin in order to not throw another clot and die? This is why I don't go those "boards". Don't talk **** unless you know what the hell you are talking about!! Maybe he should shadow a pharmacist for a day to shut his trap!! Maybe he should think about the fact the maybe one day his emergent situation or one of his family member's emergent situations could be be holding up someone else's ridiculous Tamiflu prescription that isn't gonna cure the flu and may at most minimally lessen his symptoms for a few days. He needs to sack up and grow a pair!!

There are multiple issues that can occur at a pharmacy...

1. First come first served...nuff said!!
2. Insurance billing via computer can be extremely time consuming. The RPH that he is talking smack about probably had to deal with his rejected insurance claim over and over again until he was able to manipulate an approval (we didn't go to pharmacy school for this FYI)
3. The pharmacist also needs to screen his med profile for drug-drug interactions and oh BTW...his isn't the only person's profile the RPH is screening

O.K. LADY! As a guy who has stood on line FOR HOURS & HOURS waiting to get my poor old 93 year old mom's meds when she got struck with one or another old-person ailments, lemme tell YOU what YOU can do with what you wrote!

I think it would be great if you edited it down to be printed in large red letters on a large white placard and posted over the counter in all pharmacies!

Americans (yeah, and I'm American!) can be so freakin' selfish and impatient.

You go girl!

FWIW, I used to get my prescription at SavOn... phone in renewed script, pick up next day, never waited more than fifteen minutes, often less.

CVC bought out the store... the wait went up to over a half an hour (looked like they laid off one or more pharmacist)

I hear an ad on the radio "get your prescriptions fill at the SavOn Pharmacy inside Albertsons (local grocery store).

Moved my prescriptions to the Albertsons a few blocks from my house (closer than CVC)... call in to renew my script... when the Doc changes my script I drop it off and pick it up the next day... on a BAD day maybe one other person will be in line, ten minute wait max... the pharmacists start to pull my order as I walk up to the counter.

CVC sucks a$$

All that to say... go someplace else!

I usually go during "off peak" hours at my local pharmacy. Usually a minimal wait time, and besides, I want to stay lowkey when picking up the Valtrex and Viagra prescriptions, living in a small town and all....

CVS does that also.

My old Savon has been a CVS for about a year now. Pretty much the same Pharmacists and a lot of the old sales clerks - nothing much has changed except the name.

I hear an ad on the radio "get your prescriptions fill at the SavOn Pharmacy inside Albertsons (local grocery store).

You can have your doc call it in and you don't even have to do that (Savon and CVS).

on a BAD day maybe one other person will be in line,

Well there's a plus - but they might be just as slow if they were as busy as CVS, no?

ten minute wait max... the pharmacists start to pull my order as I walk up to the counter.

I dunno, man. I'm not defending either pharmacy but I hesitate to condemn all because of the poor few. I've got nothing but respect for every pharmacist I had to deal directly with.

As I've said, they've always treated me with sincerity and respect. More than once I've heard a Pharmacist apologize sincerely to a complaining customer who had to wait, then smile and shake their head after the customer was served- it ain't fun to have people stressed out and beefing at you when there's nothing they can do about it.

I'v gotten real pissed at the arrogance and impatience of several doctors over the years, but not all of them (nurseys never piss me off - they're so sweet).

Holding out my morale compass again, tongue in cheek 'n all; but how is this thread complying to Wayne's request today to be nicer, kinder and gentler? huh?

It's just sooooo out of character for some of you's?

Now don't ya just hate it when you go to McDonalds, pick a line and the other line goes faster! Grrrrr! Sometimes its an entire minute difference

NICE write up! I think we have a lot in common. Now I have something worth sharing with the wife.

As far as Wayne's be nicer thing goes, this thread should have ended the day it started IMO. Of course it prevented me from starting another thread that relates to this about pizza. I can't figure out why it takes an hour for my pepperoni pizza when it takes an hour for a supreme. I mean c'mon, it's only peperoni and it should be done in WAY less time. But don't reply UNLESS you are a pizza maker ONLY, no delivery boys or order takers, it MUST be the cook ONLY! LOL!

Calm down fireant911, just pokin' a little fun......

Actually, the reply seems somewhat lacking. Yes, there are people who might have life-threatening conditions, but are they waiting in line at the pharmacy? C'mon. That person with a clot in their lungs would be in a hospital, only in the chronic state would they be getting a prescription filled. Likewise, the kid with the fever's most dangerous medical problem is ... the fever. Oral antibiotics aren't going to cure him in an hour. Plenty of bad advice given out by pharmacists too, alot of which has hurt patients.

The only reasonable explanations in that rant for the wait is who's in line first and insurance.
