New safe and the gang

I bought a new safe this weekend. What a pain getting 800 lbs. down the stairs!

Anyway I had them all out for a wipe down and a new home. Thought I would show and tell. The workshop is where it all happens.

The girls...

I see some redundancy! How many shotguns does a man need? Lord, it is time you get another Porsche!

Good idea! I'll trade all but 4 of them for a nice 80 SC.

Do 16 guns even fit in that safe?

I imagine just keeping all those clean/oiled/in good working order is something of a full-time job. . . Cool collection though. I think the next guns on my list are some kind of shotgun, a 1911 .45 and a 30-06, in no particular order. I'd also like to pick up an AR-15, but only after the SCOTUS ruling comes down and (hopefully) the stupid 10-round magazine limit here in Commiefornia gets repealed. I don't see the point of an AR-15 with a 10-round clip.

I've been to Dave's to purchase his 30-06, which was in perfect condition.

I took my son with me and he is just getting out of rehab after seeing all of Dave's wonderful shotguns...he'll relapse if he sees this thread

I like you list of gun wants...the 30-06 I bought from Dave was the last in the set you just desrcibed

The only thing remaining on my list is an AR-15, and I'll probably get myself one in August.

Then it's on to more reloading equipment...

If you want a custom 1911 in .45 you ought to speak with fellow board member Dane Burns. He built me a pistol a couple of years ago. Very nice work.

True, what would be the point?

Oh no Paul you need a 25-06 to go with Jacks 30-06. Then you need to see me about a matched pair of SKB doubles. A 12 for Super Dad and a 20 for that yungun Jack. Thanks for the comps.

It's not a lot of work, once they are done I drag them out about every 6 months to check them all out. They all get fired at least once a year. Some are BP only and they are a pain to clean.

My aim is pretty good. I embarrassed a friend of mine today by busting 20 out of 25 at the trap house. I gave him an edge cuz we were freezing our butts off. He busted a dozen, but he is a bird hunter and clays fly totally different than a wild spooked bird.

Yes we are well defended here. I'm a sport shooter, but it would be stupid to not have a home defense plan.

Now here is a collection! I think I'm gonna cry. There HAS to be at least ONE old English double rifle in those piles. I'm gonna be sick now.

If you are looking for an affordable, good looking, reliable SXS, look into Huglu's. A lot of gun for under a grand.

I love the look of that one, but the primary role would be home defense (a role currently filled by my glock 17) As such I probably want a pump deal, even though I LOVE the look of that one.

However for home D, I'm thinking NOTHING has intimidation factor than the sound of a pump shotgun.

Boy oh boy. . . The things I'd do with a spare $20k or so. . .

Pump shotgun.. yeah baby >>> the sound of jacking one into the chamber says >> say hello to my little friend... if an intruder doesn't understand that > its the sound to vacate the area>> then it's Darwin time for him/her [equal opportunity for all]..

Amen...amen.

Pumps are a good choice for that. Take it out and shoot it. Shoot it a lot. Know it in the dark. An old Ithaca 37 is a good choice in a used gun. Mossbergs are well Mossbergs. The 37 or a Winchester model 12 are great choices that will be worth at least what you paid for it, forever. Everybody on earth knows that sound. Oh and get one with a stock. The pistol grip ones make the gun unusable as a sporting gun. If you get one with a stock you can bust clays or ducks or birds if you like. Both the 37 and the M12 are classics.
