Test Drive

Welp, after some parts-cleaning (it's used/refurb), and some warmin' up, I made a nice americano; GAY-ed up a little bit with some sugar in the raw and a little drop of half and half.

GAME OVER. I'M IN. That's the coolest thing, EVER. Chicks panties are fallin' off all over the house, man; because they found out I can make them a cup of coffee from the 'nuova simonelli microbar.'

Tasty.

It's QUITE loud, though. All those servos and pumps and motors and whatnot.

Those are the sounds of love... A symphony of grinding, pressing and pumping.

I'm on my first cup of americano right now. Beautiful crema. Ahhhh.

............my Bunn is very quiet. I feel so inadequate. Your coffee maker is 2x what I paid for my car.

Gogar, what mods are you planning for it ?? Turbo ? New espresso cups?? Will you track it ? Make sure you save all the original equipment as you mod it in case you want to sell it, you don't want to ruin the resale value...

I don't see much point in modding an automatic, but there is a pretty big community of people who mod manual and programmable machines like tabs' and mine.
I'm not really into that though... it makes the process of making coffee a little too scientific.

In my humble opinion you need to be an off the boat Italian, at least 70 years old and have been making these drinks for the past 45 - 50 years.

Gogar 04-22-2008 08:37 AM

I'm thinking of leaving it mostly stock, but I might remap the water temp and grind times to get a little more 'oomph" on the low end.

Actually, the temp for both boilers (brewing and steaming) are seperately adjustable, as are the grind times/amounts, brew time, milk time, tamping, and pre-brew.

Maybe I can get a SW chip for it; and Tabs can be my Loren.

The insides look like an MFI pump with all those springs. Weird.

Does that mean it's nearly impossible to rebuild or tune?
