I find your views in labor relations to be spot on, and rarely disagree with you on them, but wit regards to security, you are a little off base.

Now with that being said, I have no clue who the company is, what their processes are for hiring, whether they went low bid, etc.

I live in Miami. A lot of people speak spanish. A lot of people are also gorgeous latinas who only speak spanish. Do you say "Go learn english you darn fornur!" or do you say "Hola, tu es MUY bonita"?

+1 - Miami is a dump. If you visit as a tourist (South Beach, Coral Gables, Keys) you'll think it's grand. Try living/driving/working here on a daily basis.

P.S. - The guard is right. Much more than half of Miami speaks Spanish. I would also add that at least 25% speak no English whatsoever.

No, earlier immigrants learned English at about the same rate as the ones today -- i.e. it's really the KIDS who become adept at English & fully Americanized.

I have to say tho - the big difference is that many of today's immigrants are illegal.
