A couple years ago I had Legion (and Mullhollandose) on ignore, but I have to say Legion has grown up a lot since then and while I don't agree with him on much he has gotten a world better at the way he says it.

Absolutely agreed.

Ignore all these Dr. Phil pansie asses. Hurting someone's feelings is nothing compared to having a foot blown off (or worse). If she was embarassed at the range, she would be 10,000x more embarassed for life explaining to everyone she meets why she has half a foot blown off and walks with a cane.

I like folks that are safe with firearms & instill it in others. You are right to do this.

Rounds can be cooked off by the heat in the gun. That is why it is important not to point a gun at anything you don't want to shoot. It's a good habit to get into even with a double barrel broke open.

I'm sure not some kindof councilor about relationships with women, but consider that your wife may have had a cookoff after a lot of shooting.

It still seems that if the box of shells was behind her the discharge would have gone into the ground and all this drama avoided.

Damn dude, i've only been shooting for a bit less than a decade but do much of my shooting in conditions just begging for a lack of care (cold, wet, rocking boat, 5am, dark; typical duck stuff as well as in a field full o' rednecks in dove season) and i dare say there is nothing to be gained from a 3 day safety course. you either get it or you don't.

honestly, that's just obnoxious dragging somebody to 3 days of 'don't shoot yourself'. your wife probably did this on purpose to get away from the insanity

Guys, shooting a box of shells is NOT the BFD here. It's the accidental discharge!

In case you may be wondering, this is the seed planted that will bloom into the flower of divorce.

Your wife sees you in a whole different way right now, and always will.

Jim, Shaun,

I'm sorry but you have no idea how much of a saint my wife is. She is the most forgiving woman I have ever encountered. She is more tolerant and more empathetic than any other human on earth--she married me, didn't she? She has to put up with a lot.

We also both take our marriage vows VERY seriously.

Whether or not I deserve it, she has forgiven me. We have both learned valuable lessons and will be stronger for it.

Glad to hear that, Chris. I hate to see people trip up on such an important part of their lives.

Good news. The intentions were good, the emotion was human, "human = imperfect", but "imperfect + learned from it = progress".

maybe she was trying a not-so-subtle way of bringing up premature discharge?
