that for sure would not happen around here - we are always getting news stories of somebody chasing down a robber & beating him
one fun one was a guy sitting in a noodle shop eating - punk comes in grabs the tip jar and runs - the guy was a martial artist.... |

We're not immune to violence here in Jefferson City, had a shooting last week. Here is the newspaper account, take note of what witnesses did:
A Jefferson City man has been charged with shooting his step-daughter's boyfriend Friday night. Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson on Saturday charged Stephen L. Cook, 48, with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He was being held in custody at the Cole County Jail. The victim, identified as Cornelius Williams, 33, was listed in critical condition Saturday at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to left side of his neck. According to a police department probable cause statement, an altercation between Cook and Williams took place in the parking lot of The Dialysis Clinic Inc., 144 Scott Station Road, around 6:12 p.m. Friday. A witness at the scene, who is familiar with Cook, stated Cook pulled a handgun and shot Williams as he was sitting in a vehicle. Investigators were told the men had been having a dispute throughout the week. After the shooting, the department's 911 center received at least 10 calls from witnesses saying they had seen what happened. Thomas and Danielle Jennings of Jefferson City made one of those calls. They were passing by the shooting scene in a vehicle when they heard the gunshot, then followed Cook's vehicle to Binder Lake and updated police on its location. They followed him out to the lake and believed they saw Cook throw something into the lake. Authorities credit the cooperation from the Jennings and other witnesses for helping them make an arrest so quickly because Cook was picked up just 40 minutes after the shooting at Rainbow Market.

no CCW yet...or ever. but i didnt grow up here. i am born/raised a texan, and those dudes are crazy.
ok, true story. i was once being driven around by my GF at the time. this flighty, ditzy ZETA chick. (damn, i cannot even remember her name anymore). we were coming from somewhere, and we both saw this dude, no shirt, full tats covering his torso, yelling and tossing this tiny hispanic girl around. he slapped her. i saw a police cruiser across from them at a burger joint. ironically the place was called Frisco burgers, in el paso. i was thinking of getting the cops right when i felt the dodge colt we were in, pull a harsh U-turn. o-oh...the ZETA chick whips in there and hollars bravely, "hey fcuker! leave her alone". she convienently pulled up so my face was next to the perp. he reared back, called me something in spanish and punched. jen...hey her name is jen! stepped on the gas right in time, and pulled forward just a bit. the dcikheads fist blasted thru her rear pass side window. that would have been my head. i had no defense, you cannot block/fight while strapped into a car. the cops saw and busted the guy. he was some hopped up cholo dude beating he girlfriend. the cops read us the riot act about trying to be heros. that guy would have dusted me off his shoes. it is dangerous being brave. stepping up to a man wielding a hammer alone is a fool's move. i bet money if got into it with that guy, his girlfriend would have attacked me also. it was insane.

Oh, OK. So you meant to say "i would shoot him without hesitation, if I lived in a state where they didn't restrict my Constitutional rights and trusted me with a gun"...
Got it. |
