b. The technology will increase
c. Given more time, you will be able to better research your choices.
That is a constant with any electronic device... say like buying a computer or digital camera (or HDTV)... if you wait six months or a year there will alway be a better unit for the same price (or same spec unit at lower price)... so you never buy anything because you are alway waiting for the better next generation device.

How is that for justifying my irresponsible spending habits?

AR-50 and a crapload of ammo. Obama's and a Democratic Congress will do everything in their power to make them illegal.

I'm stocking up in a big way right now.

i think you should sit on the money and wait...if you still have the same list a few months from now, think about it then.

i think moving about inventory to pay off debt and buy new toys is a good indication that you are just a tiny bit on the wrong side of "the line".
sit on the cash..i bet your list will change.

I'm finding more and more that guns are great. First and foremost because they almost NEVER go down in value. Worst case you sell them for what you paid. It's also a good idea to keep a bunch around because of increasingly draconian government in an increasingly unstable society.

I should add that I have found a brand new AR-50 at a VERY GOOD price locally and I might end up kicking myself if I don't buy it.

As much as I love guns how practical is a AR-50 really?

Other than throwing very large rounds very far what is is good for? And I am hearing $5 a pop?

Unless you are planing hunting elephants or a T-rex.

For me it is a couple hour drive to get to an outdoor range where I could fire even a .30 rifle.

Whereas new funiture or a HDTV you can enjoy every day.

And a motorcycle would make a nice commuting vehicle 7 months out of the year...

If the AR50 is below Distributor price and is as new then BUY IT. Look at the cost and if it is deeply discounted well then you are ahead of the curve. The logic here is that you can move it for a profit. If that is the case then it is an investment and not a toy. Or a toy that can make you money!

Last year I had a chance at a Barrett 82A NIB with hardcase and scope for $6500 out the door. I didn't buy it....Today $10,000.00 wouldn't get it. Last year I saw 2 others neither in the same condition and both went for more dinero.

I just don't see that many deals in guns anymore.

I spent big dollars on several leather couches for my house. I think they are a great 'investment'. Never regretted it. But I like to watch sports on TV. In a reclined position.

But I have a mig welder where I work, so the need for one at home is minimal. And home mig welders suck compared to 'the real thing'.

Only one thing on your list has a good chance of killing you.

A welder is a must have in life. It should not be on your toy list. If you have a TV and couches, why bother buying fancier ones. The gun while, cool, will only amount to a couple days of fun a year after the newness wears off. I say go for a used motorcycle... it is a toy that is at least somewhat useful.

I would reduce debt.
Then evaluate the conditions in 30 days. If bad buy the weapon. If good buy the welder.

I only wish that at some point in my life I become so wealthy that I have to consult others on how to blow my money.

Don't get the AR-50 and something else.

Get just a Barrett.

Next.

Simple answer: Buy the AR-50, and then you can get the rest of the stuff without having to spend any more money. Brilliant!
