ROFLMAO! It amazes me what an insightful parent I was before I had kids. My wife and I would roll our eyes and tsk when we saw some things our parent friends did or didn't do. Now we know. I think their "cuteness" is simply natures way of keeping us from eating them before they reach 1 year old.

What kills me is when someone without kids gets all up in arms about someones child making noise somewhere, or crying, or whatever. "Oh those parents!". Get a grip their yuppie, they're crazy little ankle biting monsters from the day they leave the womb. Once again, I am a strong disciplinarian but as you said Stomach - Spanks, grounding, corners, timeouts, removal of TV and computer rights, does not damn good most of the time.

I'll send my son to his room for the rest of the night and he'll cry for 5 minutes. Then read a book untill bedtime. Gah, my wife and I have a "safe word" we use when we really need a break. It's "HOMER". As in I'm going to strangle him like Homer does to Bart if I have to deal with this another second.

Evren, Ruki, and their 3 daughters will be flying out of PDX today...on their way back home. Selma is 6...Suzie is 4..Leyla is 2.

Wow! the energy! The squeals, the running, the ENERGY!

Sure is quiet around here. Ahhhh, peace & quiet.

I'm gonna miss 'em!

I know what you mean by missing them, when my 2 little ones spend the night at Grandma's, the house is too quiet, feels strange. But after a few cocktails with Mama, all is good.

Think I had the better deal. These are my honorary grand kids, so we enjoy the chaos for a few days, spoil them, then miss them when they've left.

Did I tell you how smart these kids are? All speak several languages...true cosmopolitans are they. But then, that's sort of a requirement for living in Istanbul. Selma, the 6 year old already knows how to control males with eye rolls and expressions. Ohhhh, do I feel sorry for Evren. In all too short a time, boys will be calling...
