if you tow with a tow-bar, the car needs to be registered.

I haven't gotten a job yet, and the registration on my truck doesn't expire till next month, so I refuse to take off my Hawaii plates unless I absolutely have to...

been pulled over once by CHP and they said I had 20 days to get cali plates and cali license...right.
Hawaii might be a little tougher to pull off.

Nobody is going to believe you just drove there for vacation.

Eventually they'll notice you - that happened to me way back when I moved here in 1999 (my truck had out-of-state plates - I got away with it for a few months and then a parking enforcement guy called it in - I got a "courtesy call" from the P.D. informing me I needed to register in-state or I'd be cited).
That's unreal. The only time cops around here pay attention to your plates is when they're pulling you over. Wow......

That was also 10 years ago. God only knows how it's like today.

Did you drive your truck all the way from Hawaii? LOL
I'm surprise that you haven't been stopped by the CHP for having those plates.
