I haven't gotten a job yet, and the registration on my truck doesn't expire till next month, so I refuse to take off my Hawaii plates unless I absolutely have to...

been pulled over once by CHP and they said I had 20 days to get cali plates and cali license...right.

Hawaii might be a little tougher to pull off.

Nobody is going to believe you just drove there for vacation.

If you don't drive the car much, or only for track days it might be worth the risk of leaving the out-of-state plate on it and ONLY driving it to/from the track. You'll probably be safe then, unless you drive like a nut or draw attention to yourself (or have a very unlucky day). Don't park it on a public street with out-of-state plates. That's unreal. The only time cops around here pay attention to your plates is when they're pulling you over. Wow......

I'm surprise that you haven't been stopped by the CHP for having those plates.
