You know, I wonder how much Nissan employees get for discount????? My cousin offered to buy a car for me via employee-discount. Too embarassed to call her as I have not been in contact for 10+ years. It would be too tacky for me to just call her when I need her.![]() ![]()

That's really a pretty stupid comment. For what you'd invest for a sorted turbo Cayman you could buy a GT-R. I think we all know how that comparison would turn out. There's no way that Porsche will win a "best value for money" comparison.

Of course, there is no blind loyalty on this board.

No Porsche is never the best value for your money. But its not like the cayman and boxster are total dogs either and there is no denying that fit/finish wise they are way nicer.
What do you expect when you dog a Porsche on a Porsche board? |

We'll see tomorrow how I progress. |

Have the Z in your hands yet? Interested in your driving impressions...

Paul,
When Mike (Emission) brought the light blue 370Z to my house, he basically told me he was underwhelmed. Yes it was fast and had good grip, but he said it had relatively poor steering feel compared to a Cayman or Boxster (or any Porsche for that matter) and didn't feel nearly as connected to the driver, in terms of the overall driving experience. Ask him for his personal experience with the car. |

Well, knowing that the car is being acquired from another dealer, I put a deposit down late last night. Salesman was supposed to call me at 10:00 a.m. By 11:30 a.m., he called saying that someone had put a deposit on the same car at the dealer where the car was located. P!ssed off, of course.
He requested that I check out the graphite-something. I said no as I want black. I went anyway. I just came back as a matter of fact. I still want the black. We are waiting until 6:00 p.m. to see if the deal falls thru. FYI, I am supposed to get the car at $700.00 below invoice. |

See if you can rent one for a couple of days. I rented a 350Z last year while in CA. While its is quick and handles ok, just didn't do it for me.

Perhaps this will be the closing of the thread.
As of this minute, the other buyer is at the other dealer negotiating. Most likely, this is the end. Well, I guess I will keep my money for a while. Although I did not get my car, it was a wonderful weekend for me due to the pursuit. Sorry, Guys. |

Scott, I emailed him but never heard from him. I was hoping to hear from him as he is only a fart-distance away from me. Thanks for the lead, anyway. |

If you give up after just a few days and ONE dealer telling you they can't get you the color you want....

Actually, this is my 3rd week! I am tired. There is a Z for $27.7 about 8 hours away from my house, but it is silver. You guys should have seen the red. Awesome! On the other hand, black is timeless. I have a 3-car garage and the office parking lot is also covered; so, black would have been a fit. No need to wash it twice a week. |

Have they searched inbound units? Nissan's system can tell dealers when they leave the port in Japan. You can have your black. Demand a little more from your dealer, or find another dealer.

You're welcome. Mike's a GREAT guy and very observant and eloquent in his ability to "read" a car and describe what he sees in it - good or bad. I'd still try to get a hold of him, if I were you. He may have been out of town this weekend doing something related to his line of work.
