Electric or blade shave?

I agree about the electric being a terrible shave.

To answer your question;

I usually have a quick shave with the electric in front of the mirror but to shave the side burns then use a blade to shave when I'm in the shower. I used to use the fancy steel handled tri-blade things but have come to discover that a half decent quality disposable does a great job.

In the past few months, I've started shaving again. I've had a beard for over 20 years. I always shaved my neck, and for the past 5 years, I've kept the beard very short. For interviews, I started shaving again.

Anyway, I'm having a terrible problem with skin irritation, mainly small whiteheads. This happens even when I don't shave very close. I'm thinking about going electric. Part of college, I used a foil shaver, and used a powder stick for lubrication.

I shave my face and my head, pretty much everything from the neck up except for my eye brows. I use a Quattro. Great shave and never cut myself. I've used lots of other disposables over the years. The Quattro doesn't shave quite as close as some of the others, but with the other's there was the occasional cut. The Quattro gets much closer than any electric.

I shave in the shower with soap. I use Dr Bonner's liquid Castile soap

Electric, with a little touch up work (dry) with a blade.

I shave once or twice a week, whether I need it or not.

If I'm not meeting clients, the shaver stays parked.

Same here, mug and brush, I have an old brush with virtually no bristle that I take when I travel. Wife bought me a new brush with a drying stand about 5 years ago to replace the one I'd had for probably 20 years. A good bristle brush is, or was about $80. Maybe more now.

Shave post shower, brush and mug with hot water, heavy brass handle for trac II blades that I have had like 20 years. If you rinse your face with cold water afterward, and use cold water to rinse the blade, you will find you irritate your skin much less.

I use a cheap brush that I got at the drugstore, it was made in England though, not China, which sort of surprised me. Seems like the brushes last about 10 years.

Redbeard, that is staph or strep. It is possible you are colonized in your nares(snout) which reshponds to bactroban/mucipiricin ointment up the nose a few times a day. There are those that treat that sort of stuff with clinda or erythromycin too, topically and orally

I prefer to singe the hair off with a propane torch.

Blades for me. Use a Mach 1. Sucks they they are so friggin expensive.
Electrics never worked good for me. I have a beard like a caveman, very tough.

I tried a straight razor once almost slit my neck open. that was the first and last time! although I had a shave with one from an old barber and it was definately the best shave i ever had.

Electric for trimming and dry shave with a blade for the rest. I hate foam.

Put on a bit of that OXY zit cream stuff after shaving. I used to get bad razor burn until I started using that stuff.

Blade since college. I held off those fancy multi-blade units that seemed to add another blade each year - until I tried one. I use one with five or six blades, whatever Costco has. Amazing. I have very sensitive skin, until I started using Nivea or Clinique shave gel. Made all the difference. When I travel and use the small cans of foam my face gets really irritated.

Mach III disposables and barbasol shave cream. On occasion I use that set up to shave my head.
