Chrome wheels peeling--thoughts?
I"m not looking for solutions but I thought I would share what I found on my Mom's car while getting ready to work on her brakes. I think salt build up got under the chrome and started the process. I sanded/ground off what I could and left the rest alone. It was only one wheel, BTW.
![]() ![]() The wheels are aftermarket(Detata) and came on the car when she bought it used a few years ago.

Well, if the outside of the wheel is presentable, you could paint some epoxy on the inner in "brake dust gray."

The look of the wheel balance attach tells it all.
I would second the 'brake dust grey' color. |

She's selling it soon which is why I was looking at her brakes. She thinks at 77,000 miles a car is done.
![]() I don't argue with her anymore. She's got the cash to buy so I just give her my opinions on vehicles she likes.
