me to. My motto is that I only camp if there is something to kill aka hunting. Have not done that in years so bambi is safe for now.

GH85Carrera 05-27-2011 08:27 AM

I love the line "My parents did not take me camping when I was a kid, because they loved me"

My idea of camping is dial up internet access and no cable TV.

Porsche-poor 05-27-2011 08:33 AM

That would be my wife. Ruffing it to her is a bad hotel.

Travis944 05-27-2011 09:38 AM

Good morning all, how's it going? I'm going to Las Vegas this weekend and wondering if anyone has a hotel recommendation?

BTDT ain't gonna do it no more.

My MIL hates camping more than most. She says she camped for the first 18 years of her life. She was raised on a farm with no electricity & no indoor plumbing. Imagine getting up in the morning with frost on your bed. If you want a drink of water you have to stoke the fire in the stove to heat the frozen water pitcher. The bathroom was a dozen steps outside the door.

I always had electricity & running water as a kid, but I did not live in a house with air conditioning until I was in high school, and I never went to a school that was air conditioned. Of course I did not have Internet access or cable TV. Heck we did not get color TV until I was in the 6th grade.

I'm putting you up for a Purple heart, calling Barack right now... :D

GH85Carrera 05-27-2011 11:27 AM

Yea, and I walked to school barefoot in the 1st grade. There was no snow since that was in Hawaii but it was up (and down) hills both ways.

Before that color TV, I was the voice activated remote control. Since I was the youngest I was to one that had to walk all the way across the room to the TV and change it to one of the THREE possible channels.

Porsche-poor 05-27-2011 11:41 AM

you to? I hated that just get settled and hey change the channel.

GH85Carrera 05-27-2011 11:47 AM

Yea, and dad always wanted to watch the NEWS and never cartoons.

Porsche-poor 05-27-2011 11:52 AM

ARGHHH !!! Dumb Fkckng design on our big printer!

We have a 60 inch wide printer that came with a take up winder as part of the printer. If you actually read the manual it wants you to feed out almost three feet of paper to tape it up to the spool before you start printing. Now the paper is 60 inches or five feet wide and they want me to waste three feet of it. 15 sq feet of paper for the trash can. That is great if you sell paper but sucks for the consumer.

Anyway on top of that stupid design is that if everything is not set up just right the take up spool just sits there doing nothing so you have to manually twist the paper take-up or let it pile up on the floor. When the print job is done it just comes up and says take up error, set up paper take-up properly. There is no reset for that error at all except turn the printer off. If you don't remove that paper first off the printer will start with the same error. Once you have turned the printer off it no longer knows how long the roll of paper is so it assumes it is a new roll.

Very poor design on an otherwise great printer.

Porsche-poor 05-27-2011 01:03 PM

Sounds like a really crappy design on the program side of things.

porsche4life 05-27-2011 01:08 PM

It is an Epson 11880

slodave 05-27-2011 01:29 PM

Epson has been failing with their printers lately.

GH85Carrera 05-27-2011 01:41 PM

It is a great printer, it just the take up system that sucks. Another annoying "feature" is that after the print job is done and you tell the printer to cut the paper, the take up spool will NOT move with any button or command. You are standing there holding each side of a 5 foot wide piece of paper and you have to somehow force the take-up to wind up the rest of the paper you just cut off so you can grab the roll of prints and remove that from the printer.

Think of all the politically incorrect stereotypes of the stupid people, imagine a hybrid mongrel of all of them and that is who designed the take-up. I can promise it was not someone that actually used a wide format printer for real production.

Porsche-poor 05-27-2011 01:43 PM

sounds like the person who came up with the idea is one of those "hey what if we....." and never thought it thru.

GH85Carrera 05-27-2011 01:50 PM

I think anyone that ever worked on a car and found a stupidly difficult task that should have been simple feels the same way.

Won't have the Shark Tuner installed and running until mid-next week. Still waiting for the Wideband O2 sensor to arrive. Will do a dyno to actually see the results. The company that makes the Shark Tuner has a new product they are announcing next weekend at a 928 gathering in NC. Sure wish I could go.

Yes, I can save and load different maps. However, the best tune will be to optimize low throttle/load for economy and high throttle/load for performance. The use of accelerator pedal will determine economy vs performance.

What a day today!!!
1.) My boss fouled up the network by changing the "administrator" password on the domain server and not on any of the devices he set up to use the administrator login to validate user login so devices quit letting users log in. VPN access no longer validated my login so I didn't have to do anything all day. Somehow the devices I setup each using it's own administrator level login to the domain server instead of the login "administrator" kept working. To cover his mistake he claims someone cracked the administrator password causing the outage today so now we are going to change the password and privileges schema for the entire company. This is going to cause HUGE problems.

2.) I now have nice new working gates on my stockade fence. Just in time, my dog is going into heat.

3.) My Troy Built roto-tiller returned today. I can play in the dirt this weekend.

The only things I have left from my camping/hiking days is a folding lawn chair and an ice chest. Instead of a backpack I have a carry-on with wheels.
