Porsche-poor 06-26-2011 08:05 AM

Good morning.

Porsche-poor 06-26-2011 12:29 PM

All done with the hill side for the day.

porsche4life 06-26-2011 12:45 PM

Almost back home. Got lots of pictures.

I feel like hell though.

pete3799 06-26-2011 12:53 PM

Changed the right front wheel bearing on the 03 tacoma 4X4.
What a PIA that is. Good thing i have a press......can't do it without.
Got everything back together today and ,other than almost slicing my thumb off yesterday,
It's good to go.

Rick V 06-26-2011 01:52 PM

Yanno they make a special press for doing that on the vehicle. Ya shoulda said something I would have let you borrow it. :)

porsche4life 06-26-2011 02:03 PM

Home now... Checking out pictures...

pete3799 06-26-2011 02:05 PM

That would have been A LOT easier.
I can see pulling the wheel hub out.....but how do you pull the bearing?
Must be you have to remove the CV and take the axle out?

Yeah you have to remove the axle, but it is much easier to do the bearing when you don't have to deal with making sure the spindle assy is square like you do with a regular press.

Please note I used a pic from the host so as not to get into trouble even though I payed a lot less for mine.

pete3799 06-26-2011 05:32 PM

OK....so i have to buy more tools...........what's not to like.

Rick V 06-26-2011 05:38 PM

Well being one who is getting out of the biz, I think I have spent my last $$$ on tools like that

Porsche-poor 06-26-2011 08:29 PM

Looks like a trip to the doc for me. got a spot on my arm that is breaking out in little blood blisters. If its not better by the am time to have it looked at. Life in the slow lane.

slodave 06-26-2011 08:30 PM

If you die, can I have your 911?

Porsche-poor 06-26-2011 08:32 PM

its older than yours none of the parts would fit. I'll tell the wife you want it.

porsche4life 06-26-2011 08:34 PM

Hey, I'm the only one in this here thread sans 911. I think I get it!

Besides, where you gunna keep it dave? :p

slodave 06-26-2011 08:34 PM

Does it have a sunroof? Track car. ;)

Sidney not fast enough... :p And I'll make room.

Porsche-poor 06-26-2011 08:37 PM

its a targa. so some of the parts might fit. Sid do your self a favor and stay away from 911 till after college then buy a graduation gift.

Keep it up guys and I'll start to get worried and watching my back. The wife will unload it real fast as she hates it.

slodave 06-26-2011 08:41 PM

Hmmm... Not looking for parts. But, since I have an early '84, my 911 has a lot of SC parts still.

Targa... I already have enough leaks. Sidney, it's all yours.

Porsche-poor 06-26-2011 08:43 PM

Ha! mine only leaks a little at the top front corners. Had the top re-done at carsinc and installed his front seal as well.
