Whew! What an afternoon. Got a text from a friend that wanted to go flying, so I met him at the airport, we jumped into a plane, for a short flight that ended up three times longer and flew all over the greater L.A. area. First up North to Santa Ynez, then to Santa Monica where we happened to run into a couple other pilots that fly out of the same FBO at Van Nuys. Had dinner with them and then fly back in formation. We could not take off at the same time, but we landed in formation. Pretty damn cool!

Did you guys synchronize an autoX landing, too?

Porsche-poor 07-08-2011 09:17 PM

[QUOTE=slodave;6124966]Funny, now I think that that is relatively inexpensive. :D[/QUOTE

Its used and new one is $1100. Looks good sounds good.

slodave 07-08-2011 09:20 PM

I wasn't actually doing the flying at that point. No AX style landings. :)

Good Morning / Afternoon Gents. Cold and windy down in the lower parts of Australia today.

Looks like I will make the XXX root beer breakfast in the 911late tomorrow. Then an art walk on Sunday.

So Dave think I should pick up the Gibson and make him pay me back?

slodave 07-08-2011 10:40 PM

I can't endorse the paying back part.. When I first started playing bass, my parents insisted that I rent for a while, to make sure I would stick with it. When I did and the "lease" was up on the bass, we turned it in and they bought me a new bass, that cost a pretty penny. They also bought my first electric (used) with amp (used).

It seems like you and your wife are encouraging his musical talents. Honestly, if the kid's been good, getting good grades, does his normal chores... If it's the guitar of his current dreams and he's played that exact one and liked it, I say buy it and surprise him - no strings attached - to the deal that is. ;)

Why the interest in the V?

Porsche-poor 07-08-2011 10:44 PM

Its a Gibson and something about albert king. Not sure who that is but he keeps talking about him.

Porsche-poor 07-08-2011 10:45 PM

He is into blues now.

Haha! King used a real Gibson V for years, then used a couple of copies later.

Off to bed for me. Probably will go get it.

vas930 07-08-2011 10:58 PM

+1 for Albert King. Big fan of that man.

slodave 07-08-2011 10:59 PM

Afternoon, Vas. It's still Yesterday night for David and myself.

vas930 07-08-2011 11:02 PM

Hi Dave Good to see the guitar is getting a workout.

vas930 07-08-2011 11:09 PM

Hey Dave I doubt its your style, but I always liked the guitar work of Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats and The Brian Setzer Orchestra. A bit odd, But I like that dude.

slodave 07-08-2011 11:11 PM

He's a good guitarist. I didn't care for SC much, but I do like some of TBSO. ;)

vas930 07-08-2011 11:19 PM

Yep you either like that sc sound or not. I am a bit of a rockabilly/psychobilly man from way back. But I love Blues and hard core as well. I loved Motor Head, saw them a few times also.

vas930 07-08-2011 11:32 PM

Good Night Dave, must go to bed early. Big day with a group of Porsches, got to get up at 4:30 in the morning. Talk soon.
