P9S, 9+1 in 9mm, fixed barrel, roller delayed blowback (basically the action is an adaptation of the G3 rifle), shielded hammer, DA/SA with a cock/decock lever and a slide mounted safety that places a physical block between the hammer and pin. Reliable, accurate and fun to shoot. It's my winter carry.

I like the gun just not the round. I am not a fan of 9mm

The P9S was also made in .45.....Target versions with a longer barrel and compensator thingy were also made in both caliber.

.45, almost any round will knock down....9 requires a delicate balance for a truly powerful round.

A 9mm in FMJ will not even penetrate my truck door. That was proven on a doner we had laying around. If I am going to carry something to protect myself, it is going to be a lot more than that. I carry a .45acp. The only advantage to a 9mm is the ability to carry large amounts of ammo in a small space. excellent for suppression fire.

What's your thoughts on a Sig 229 .40? I'm almost settled on that.

You're using the wrong 9 ammo. The load I carry leaves the muzzle at around 1500fps and makes a good size wept in our steel targets.

I'd buy 9 before I'd buy 40... The 40 isn't that much better balistically, it costs more to shoot, makes way more noise, and kicks like a mule.

I shot an xd in 9 and .40 and bought the 9mm.

I have never fired that gun but I do like the .40. Very accurate round but kinda spendy to plink with. My father has a clock 22 in .40 and I eat up anything I aim at with that one
