That look's like Bishop's Peak off of Foothill. The other one looked like a different peak. There is one next to/in Morro Bay that looks like a tiny, tiny half-dome.

Most of the rocks are too shear for me to think of climbing without gear.

I'd be good for a hike. It was just hiking to excess (and probably improper form and shoes) that did it.

Correct, but all pix are from the same mountain.

It was the switchback trail that cued me in.

When I first got to SLO as a freshman, I went up to about where the rocks start then I could not tell where the proper trail went so I just went back down. I was scoping out places to hike or bike so I just moved on to the next place. I thought Prefumo Canyon Road was pretty good except for the cows. I can ride up there and go all the way to Avila Beach if I wanted to. I just turn around at the tippy top after checking out the view of Morro Bay and then head back down the way I came.

I went up from the Foothill side. That parking area is not one I really like to pull out of.

Have you been up to Cambria?? How about along the coast up there mid February to watch the elephant seals?

Flieger 11-04-2011 07:26 PM

No. Elephant Seals do not interest me. :)

Flieger 11-04-2011 07:28 PM

When I was younger I would just go beach combing with my Mom. Once I got into hiking and biking the beach became too flat for me. If I was going to go to the beach to watch something now it sure as heck would not be seals!;)

Change that sales pitch to bikini-clad coeds, Dave, and Max might change his mind. ;)

Flieger 11-04-2011 07:29 PM

Ha! I posted the additional info at the same time you posted.

This in my garage would allow me to die a happy man.

Thanks for the photos Noah, I wanna come hang out with you.

Whatever floats your boat, Max. I like exploring and seeing new things, even hundreds of elephant seals as they gather on the shore to mate. Helps to make you well rounded. ;)

Chicks dig pilots, Dave. :)

I'm a creature of habit though those habits change every once in a while. I think I got that from my Dad. We are both engineering types and his OCD has rubbed off a little on me.

And I'm digging a certain chick pilot, but I'm not sure she's of the same opinion.. Working on it, but I think this pilot's going down in flames...

Ah, thus the flirting on the radio.

Noah930 11-04-2011 07:34 PM

So that'll be our code word. If any of you want to go to a local watering hole and go cruise for "elephant seals," I'm game. Particularly if Mrs. Noah answers the phone when you call. ;)

slodave 11-04-2011 07:34 PM

Heh, no. Flirting was done in person... :D
