I was fascinated by the numerous areas of little tiny holes in the skin of this F-18. It was almost like boundary layer control (vacuuming a tubulent boundary layer into the plane). But that is not used anymore.

hey guys.

my dating advice, from much research: don't ask for a phone number. don't even ask them out for a date. ask them if they'd like to JOIN you for coffee (or something else that is similarly simple and public). if they decline, move on, no biggie. if not, you are in. it is that simple. you have set the agenda, check. it is easy and easily escapable, check. it is public and safe, check. after they say yes, set a date, preferably in the IMMEDIATE future, like that evening or afternoon or the next day. THEN get their number when you meet for coffee, if all is working out.

Maybe it has something to do with managing the shock wave when the aircraft is going supersonic. Engines need subsonic air and maybe this helps the transition?

Those are not normal intakes for an 18 are they? They look more like an f-15.

Now why is this there? So the engines breath cleaner air out of the boundary layer I imagine.

It is an F-18E, Superhornet. Square intakes, not round anymore. The tails are not rounded either.

Why does the gear door have them too?
