I sure remember my first DOS computer. It was a Compaq lugable 4.77 MHz dual floppy with 256K of RAM. No hard drive, and that 1/4 meg of RAM was just enough to load DOS 2.1 and not much else. It had a tiny little screen that was 5 or 6 inches diagonal. I still have my copy of Compaq DOS 2.1 360K 5.25 inch floppies. I started upgrading it by maxing out the RAM to 640K and added a 10 MB hard drive.

My first computer had a full color CRT! :p

Oh and the whole thing was painted with flames in a hotwheels screen!

It was a patriot, circa 2001

Ugh

Jim Richards 12-01-2011 08:26 AM

My first personal computer was an Apple II+ with 2 external 5 1/4" floppy drives, an amber CRT, a dot-matrix printer, and a telephone modem. I can't remember the RAM quantity, probably 64 kB or so.

almost time to go team building, i arranged for some karting.
and. i spread the rumor via our accountant, that there will be a stripper for the 50'eth Bday of our boss

he's totally not a stripper kinda guy, very nice gentlemen, likes orderly things , but he can take a laugh
the idea is to get him nervous about the potential that i did the unthinkable, and will have a stripper jump him in a public place.

hjeheheheh

Wow it's windy out there.

nynor 12-01-2011 10:09 AM

windy, no kidding. gusts over 40MPH here. 15 miles north they clocked a gust over 100MPH! (davis county) centerville declared a state of emergency and weber state university locked down the union hall, no one can leave until they okay it (how that is going to fly....) and classes are canceled until at least 1630. there are roofing shingles all over my back yard. i will need to go out there and inspect my own roof.

nynor 12-01-2011 10:11 AM

oh and we are missing a large garbage bin.

porsche4life 12-01-2011 10:12 AM

I feel for you guys dealing with the high winds... Been there, done that, and you guys can have the shirt.

Riding a motorcycle isn't bad when the bike's moving. It's just coming to a stop and starting off that can be a little challenging. I musta looked like it was my first time out. On the flip side, I was able to lane split down about 3 city blocks' worth of stopped traffic.
